Watched 'The Usual Suspects'

holy shit Laughing What a fantastic film. Easily one of the best i've ever seen.

I had a very very strong idea who Soze was, but The final 15 minutes Laughing I didn't see that coming at all lmao.

Unreal twist.

Kevin Spacey was fantastic. Gerrard Pique look alike and everyone else too. Great acting overall and Directing. The story Proud

Glad I watched it.

So I watched Pulp Fiction last night.

Old timers can correct me if I am wrong. I would have appreciated this movie far more if I watched it around 10 years ago?

It was a great film, and there was nothing wrong with it. But I don't think I enjoyed it as much as I was supposed to?

The acting was a masterpiece. Eventhough I didn't like John Travolta's parts, I can say it was brilliantly done. Samuel L Jackson stole the film for me. Bruce Willis is obviously good. The three stories I liked the best involved those two and the restaurant couples.

It was hilarious at times and the Dark humour came across excellently. The best thing about the film was probably the dialogues. Mostly delivered by Samuel Jackson of course.

I would personally give it an 8.5/10

It's gets better with every viewing, since you pick up on a lot of references after you've watched additional movies. That's the genious of Tarantino, and why he's the director with the most re-watchable movies out there.

I'd watch it for Samuel Jackson alone tbh  But you are probably right.

That scene where they went to take the briefcase back was glorious Laughing

Also i loved how that Ezekiel 25:17 quote was basically the plot of the movie in a subtle way. The difference between the shepherd and the Tyrant as nearly every pair was either a shepherd or a tyrant in individual stories.

Disappointed by Sin City 2. Knew it wouldnt beat the first one because of the uniqueness of the film first time around but still.

The storyline was fine and all that, but just didnt grab me.

Just watched Donnie Darko.

I don't think I've seen a movie so different and so complex as this. It's not an easy movie to grasp. The philosophy behind the whole movie is very delicate. But if you understand it then you will like it. Unless you don't like the art of it of course.

There are so many possibilities of how the movie panned out. I can right now think of 3 ways to what the movie really was about and all 3 of them are like ingeniously written. However I am not sure what the official explanation is to the movie as i haven't read it. I am going to find that 'Philosophy of time travel' book to read it though.

Don't read this if you want to watch the movie.

IMO there were two alternate timelines going through at the same time. Donnie shot Frank in one timeline in the eye and in another timeline Frank visits Donnie via either a time stream as he mentions or he visits him in his dreams since Donnie has schizophrenia. Either way, I think Frank got him out the night the accident occurs to prevent him dying in one timeline. He then leads his next 28 days into events that have occurred in the alternate timeline to prevent them happening in the current timeline. But that leads to a time stream collision at the point where Donnie kills Frank and Gretchel dies.

Donnie then somehow(think he has special powers?) uses the plane his mother and sister were travelling to crash into the house 28 days before to kill himself and prevent the death of Gretchel and Donnie.

but it's interesting that all the other characters somehow knew what was lost in the alternative timeline because that pedo was shown remorseful, while Frank was touching his eye where he was shot and Gretchel was sad eventhough she never met him.

Another thing they heavily focused on was the Christ movie. I think they wanted us to relate Donnie with the christ. The theme was quite heavy with the whole good and evil and Christ n anti christ. Donnie in the end sacrificed himself to save the world as one of the alternate reality was destroyed while the other survived.

Or something like that lol. If you have seen it then pls respond.

Glad I watched it. Great film

The GOAT horror movie.

Pleased that you enjoyed it.

I remember watching it in the cinema and my mate guessed the spoiler at the end about 20 mins into the movie. I dismissed it but it did play in the back of my mind throughout the movie....grrr. The mofo kinda ruined it for me lol.

I;ve seen it once and gave my thoughts on here, but it probably is in the first thread or something.
i kinda forgot my interpretation of it, will have to watch it again. One thing is for sure it is a very comple movie!

Oh and Pulp Fiction is 9/10 at least.
Phenomenal film. Only watched it I think early last year, but everything in it is so good you don't need have watched it years back or the time it was released to have enjoyed it more.

AGAIN. It's so enjoyable to watch it's insane.

Apparently, the director's cut of Donnie Darko explains things more clearly and, as a result, changes the movie a lot. I remember reading about it a while back and thinking the cinematic version was much better because of how vague it was.

I like things being open ended. If I see the director's cut and hear that this was meant to be just his hallucination and he actually died right at the spot and all of the later events didn't really happen. Then that won't go down well with me personally.
