The Portugal international will miss three matches following his dismissal at the weekend, but will be available for Wednesday's Copa del Rey game against Atletico.

He scratched the face of his opponent TWICE! If that was Suarez he would have been given 8 games ban in the EPL :-)
The attacker was slapped with a one-game ban for the incident with Iturraspe, while getting an additional two games for his offensive gesture after his dismissal.
for the same gesture, Albelda got 4 games ban few seasons ago.
If any thing RFEF made sure he'll play the games against Atletico Madrid (Cup 2, Liga 1).

Reasonable ban, he deserved two yellow cards for the scratch on Gurpegui and subsequent headclash with Iturraspe (1 game) and a 2 match ban for his offensive hand to face gesture to the ref.
Khaled, I think Albelda got a 2 match ban too for the same gesture.

Don't agree with the whole red card thing here, but I too would ban him for his recent performances on the pitch.

We can do just fine by 3 games without him. Next 3 games are just bunch of scrubs.

C.Ronaldo was actually quite lucky. Because he got sent off for that, alot of people are acting as if he is the victim in all of this and very little has been said about the fact that C.Ronaldo could, and probably should, have been sent off earlier for this challenge.
Edit: he was also lucky that the referee had his back on him on this occasion..

In related news Athletic Bilbao is suing Marca for the "racist" accusations against Gurpegui (the player that milked the CR incident)

3 match ban?! Thought a 2 match ban would have been more that acceptable but I guess the FA decided to be all big and bad.

3 match ban seems to harsh. In El Clasico there were way worse scratches and slaps none of them got even yellow. But he behaves very badly on the pitch since copa del rey final. Intentionally kicks players. It will teach him a lesson

Well, Valdes got a 4 match ban when he said to a referee:" you have f#cked up, you have no shame" and Aduriz got a 2 match ban when he said:" it's a f#cking disgrace that you send me off for this".
Atleast the RFEF is being consistent.
But I have to say that it's a disgrace that they punish someone more for insulting a referee than for tackles like the one C.Ronaldo did on Mikel Rico.
