Liverpool-Oldham
Oldham Athletic Association Football Club (Oldham Athletic AFC) currently competes in the Football League One, the third tier in the English football league system. They are currently 19th in the 24-team league and their performance in last five league games is W-L-D-D-L. For the third consecutive year they will face Liverpool in FA Cup. Last year they shocked us before going down to Everton in the 5th round.
2012/13-FA Cup-Liverpool (A): 2-3
2011/12-FA Cup-Liverpool (H): 5-1
1993/94-League-Liverpool (A): 3-0
1993/94-League-Liverpool (H): 2-1
1992/93-League-Liverpool (A): 2-3
1992/93-League-Liverpool (H): 1-0
1991/92-League-Liverpool (A): 3-2
1991/92-League-Liverpool (H): 2-1
Gerrard came off the bench against Hull while Sturridge is reportedly available too. However, I doubt either will be risked with so much at stake in the league campaign. Shako, Flanagan, Enrique and Allen are unavailable while Lucas looks like someone who could do with some rest. I think Mignolet, Kelly, Toure, Agger, Cissoko, Moses and Aspas are confirmed starters. Youth players will certainly form the bulk of the match-day squad, though how many will feature in the starting XI remains to be seen. I would be really, really happy is key players are rested for this match.

Re: Liverpool-Oldham
Although it's been enjoyable to watch so much PL football in the last couple of weeks, I think we're all relieved that the team is going to have a bit of a rest. This game on Sunday and then a whole week until the Stoke trip.
I'd start something like:
Mignolet
Kelly - Toure - Agger - Cissokho
Gerrard - Lucas - Alberto
Aspas - Suarez - Moses
Have Henderson and Coutinho on the bench, both deserve a rest, but bring on the likes of Rossiter, Smith, Teixeira, Ilori if we have the game in the bag in 2nd half.

We shoone rest everyone who has started in last three games. The likes of Suarez Henderson Coutinho Sterling and Lucas shouldnt even be on the bench
I would start with
Mignolet
Kelly Toure Illori Cissokho
Rossiter Gerrard Alberto
Moses Aspas Brad Smith
Yeah we may struggle for fluency but should be enough to see of Oldham at home.Either way League far more important and i wont mind if risk FA cup progress for that.
Also Ibe instead of Smith if he has recovered from injury

Re: Liverpool-Oldham
I would start the same team as BG's . Although I think it would be better that we have strong defence, I am not sure if Ilori is also a good header of the ball. I think set pieces and crosses will be their gameplan to score goals. Instead of Smith, I would like to go for Texeira and sad that Ibe is injured.
We must make make most of the opportunity that the fixture is at home, by resting players. Start as many youngsters as possible and keep Suarez, Hendo and Cou on the bench.

Agger (he hasn't played regularly) for Illori and someone for Gerrard. Likes of Gerrard, Sturridge can be on the bench.

Re: Liverpool-Oldham
I think it makes sense to start one experienced player in the midfield and also it would make sense that Gerrard gets something like 60 minutes in this game before he plays in the Stoke game.

Re: Liverpool-Oldham
Nah can't see Rossiter starting. Maybe come off the bench to get his debut but not as a starter.
Alberto, Aspas, Moses, Toure, Kelly, Cissokho, and hopefully Ilori are already down to start this.
The rest is pick and choose really. I can see Gerrard playing 45minutes from the start and then Hendo/Lucas playing second half. Can also definitely see Agger starting if Rodgers doesn't trust Ilori.

With Sakho already out injured and Agger's injury record should we really risk him against a physical team like Oldham. In my view we shouldnt.
And dont think Sturridge will ready for the bench vs Oldham at best Stoke i think

No way I would start that XI and I'm sure neither will Rodgers make such a drastic change to the team. Only Gerrard is a regular starter in that line-up (and Mignolet). That would be hugely underestimating Oldham and would be almost the same as throwing in a group of strangers to play a game. Too risky. We should start a strong'ish XI and make subs early in 2nd half if we are in the lead.

Re: Liverpool-Oldham
as I said earlier, I dont give a f*ck about FA cup, only to go in the final to lose to Chelsea or another Wigan side. After having such a huge injury crisis already, it will be important to take less risk. Just that in defence I would start Agger instead of Ilori since whenever i have seen him in U21 I was not impressed with him so much

Re: Liverpool-Oldham
I don't care much about the FA cup either compared to the main goal of finishing in the top-4, but I don't want to take it as a pre-season tournament, either.

Re: Liverpool-Oldham
No way fellas, I fully expect us to win the competition or at least go really far (semis).
Our players have played less football than all of our rivals since the start of the season. We'll be fine.
I actually hope we go for a really strong team, even start Suarez.
But in reality I know some of our important players will be rested which fine still since it's only Oldham. But I would hate for BR to be complacent and change the whole team.

Re: Liverpool-Oldham
We had a weak (thin) squad to start with and with spate of injuries, we are down to bare bones. On the other hand we have a real chance of making Champions League after FIVE years.
Logic dictates we shouldn't jeopardize our primary objective, which is also crucial to our long-term survival, by risking key players of a very thin squad.
Myself is a big fan of the Cups, but it would be suicidal to prioritize FA Cup over CL qualification.

Re: Liverpool-Oldham
As long as we win and get a favorable draw for the next round I'll be satisfied. No matter who plays. Really really miss that feeling of going far in a cup tournament. Last season losing to Zenit so early hurt a lot specially since we frickin handed them the tie. Suarez missed 3 sitters in the away leg and then Carra
And then getting beat by these same scrubs last season.
Oh I'm pissed now, Rodgers play the strongest XI ffs. Let's crush these inbred c*nts.

Re: Liverpool-Oldham
Yeah, I read that it's going to be father v son (didn't watch the clip though).
Should be an easy piece of victory tomorrow.
Ps. Good news that Manc City drew with Blackburn and face a replay.

A replay at the Etihad which will likely be humiliating for Blackburn eh! You shouldn't be happy but on the other hand you should because Man City and others at the top will get busy (many games) while we deal with few matches. Its an advantage we should take.
