Lets Bring This Section BACK

Remember when this section was the most active club section in the entire forum? Ya, I don't either because that was what 3 years ago? More?

This is a call to bring it back. Mt has been carrying it single handedly at times, but since most of the heavy weight posters have left or stuck primarily to the General Section, this section hasn't been the same.

Not much more to say about it.. bring it back, and get posting.

Well, one of the things that made this section so active is that we argued so much about players, Mourinho and Barcelona. In fact, it probably was the driving force. The section (the GL version) had factions that went at each other's throats (or fingers). The Higuain boys, the Benzema lovers, the anti Mourinho, the pro Mourinho (me), guys who wanted to see Real Madrid play like Barcelona, the ones countering such a shitty thought, it was wonderful.

Made even better when Crims, Babs, Marta, Izzy, Sports, Zeal, Hala, Shaven, myself, Josh, Nick, Cyborg, EarlyPrototype, MT, the occasional appearance from Timmy and JD, SuperFlo, Vandeez, etc. were all divided in opinion big time.

After we won the league, things got quite mellow in these parts and after a while, it made little sense arguing over the same thing constantly. Also, Mourinho's final season was just, ugh...

I know where and how it all started and i won't mention it.

It doesn't need to be mentioned to be honest, I didn't make the thread to bring up any of that, I just meant this to be a positive thing kinda in line with what Doc was saying.

Bring back the debate. Even since the split- I've always gone to this section and it has the posters, the problem is it's more like news reporting than debate.

I was quite an active poster, back when I first started posting on these forums. I even tried to catch up with Crimson on the original forum (a hopeless goal). but then again, I've been here since 2007 - I was only a teenager back then, and I had tons of time on my hands  

I barely even find time to play on my Playstation, nowadays :(I remember that I used to make long threads/posts defending Benzema's poor performances, back when people on here were criticising him shortly after he had arrived from Lyon. I also remember that the poster, Turok had become a huge fan of Benzema after purchasing him for Real Madrid, on FIFA.

The other day, some guy in the live chat got really butt-hurt, after I, for once, decided to criticise Benzema's performance in a recent game. Just goes to show how much things have changed around here

I really miss how busy the previous forum was. I miss the annoying, yet entertaining posters, like Cyberman, SuperFloren, and all the other ones that made this place come alive, I miss the hilariously crazy, Storm1 and her articulate, but nonsensical posts.. I miss how unique and active the goal.com forum was, compared to a lot of other forums, football and otherwise. I'm not really surprised that this place has become less active and more casual, considering it's been around for 6-7 years and has transitioned through several different forum providers, and the regular posters have grown older/left. But it's really a shame. I used to look forward to reading new threads and posts in this section and the general section.. I even enjoyed checking out threads in other club's sections, every once in a while.. but none of that interests me that much anymore.

I had almost forgotten about Larisano, the brilliant poster and Barcelona fan who abused his power after he was made a moderator

I too have been an active member here a lot before, since 2007/2008 but now I work and study and really don't have a free time to just sit on my PC, I sometimes lurk this forum from my phone but that's it. Before I had time to stay all night and argue/debate/write on this forums, I actually spent 50% of my free time on this forum the other 50% included playing games, going out etc.

@Thimmy exactly my point. And the thing is, I would bet, there is still a decent percentage of people exactly like you who read the forums occasionally but do not post as much anymore because of loss of interest.

This section used to have such an identity with shaven, adnyana179, crimson, izzy, josh, pretty much the names doc listed etc.

I don't see why we can't get that old feel back, even if its not the same posters.

Oh yes, LM was such a big troll but it seems he matured. Let's hope dear futbol (whose posting style I like, lyrical waxing ftw) can live up to such an esteemed role...

the problem is also that friggin chat

it ruined the whole forum imo, all interesting discussions are kept in the chat instead of being discussed in the forum threads like they should have.

it kinda seems obvious to not use a chat in a forum environment but obviously not to the admins of the site

Agreed.

Never saw the point in having a chat in a forum but I'm sure there is a logical reason behind it.

Chat was there when this section was one of the most active as well.

We all know what happened to this section and the real reason for it to go like this.

We all know what happened to this section and the real reason for it to go like this.

Yes, it worked back then when the forum was at it's peak and everyone was active. But slowly the cancer of this forum aka the chat became a discussion board itself and majority of the football discussion moved to the chat instead. The problem with the chat is that it's only available during some hours (usually when games are active, which is stupid because majority of the people who actually enjoy football enjoy watching football without using a chat). It segregates the forum into two discussion boards and the forum itself became the "ghetto" lol.

I know u are thinking that the chat prevents trolling but I think it prevents any discussions at all. It's no wonder the forums death began after the chat, just happened slow enough so not all noticed it.
