Re: Premier League - Chelsea vs Southampton
Can't believe people have said that Southampton dominated the first half. Typical people who don't watch the matches. Southampton's attack was no where up to it after the first 12 seconds and all they did was put up a very good defensive display. Chelsea were always in control of the match.
People will say that Mou's tactics changed the game, but I really don't believe they did. Our two goals came from set pieces which had nothing to do with Ba. Before the goals, I would argue our team was looking more disjointed compared to the first half, and that even with Ba on the pitch we weren't threatening as much. After the two goals, Southampton gave up and Ba had plenty of chances. The purpose of Mou's half time substitution was to remove the ineffective Essien (a liability) and bring in a striker because we had to score two goals. I really don't see the tactical mastermind there.
Mata became more and more effective as the game wore on. He's good enough to start matches. If we don't want to play Hazard-Oscar-Mata because of the lack of width, then one of Oscar or Mata has to be dropped. Mou clearly prefers Oscar.

Exactly what I thought too. Also I think it's better to play with shurrle, mata, and hazard than our three playmakers at once. Either Oscar or mata, thou would love to see Oscar as a cm while mata playing cam- but only in our dreamsEl Chelsea Fuerte wrote:Can't believe people have said that Southampton dominated the first half. I agree, And honestly, I really want us to try:
just once against weaker teams.

I'm sure it would work great if they kept their heads in, Oscar covering and passing up to mata, while mata keeps our attackers readyKick wrote:I agree, And honestly, I really want us to try:Cech

It would work fine against any weaker team, Oscar is good enough defensively, no doubt and Mikel will sit and hold.
