What do you think about him?
Personally I love this player , I think he is best left back in the world ..... He defends, attacks, very intelligent player and he has a excellent left footed ... every corner or free kick shot from him are dangerous
Pure class.
Yesterday he has been substituted off in a PL game for the first time since Sep 2008(Everton v Hull) ... and it has happened only because of injury . Record that testifies to its great value
He deserves a club better than Everton , in 2011 he was a step from playing with Bayern but he didn't want to transfer in German .... he is always a step from playing with Manchester United every summer but then he remains in Everton because of the high price.
so, what is your opinion?

He'll probably be England's no.1 left back after next summer. He has been the best in the world since probably 2011 though.

He can't defend.... why people continue to ignore this is beyond me.
Probably because he plays for Everton and no one cares enough to bother.
But his defensive ability or lack of is still worse than Cole even now and that would get exploited at international level.... Hell the likes of Kuba and Alexis Sanchez have already exploited it
He's fantastic going forward though, probably one of the best around.

for me he is not so bad to defend... yes, Cole is better in this but there is worse in general...
I remember last Tottenham-Everton where he saved 2 goals on Soldado for example ...
for me he played a great match against Poland while I didn't watch England-Chile ...friendly match played with many reserves

If he's poor defensively but great going forward, wouldn't he make a great winger? That's what happens with Bale.

In GL logic.. if your good offensively your best in world fullback, regardless of how bad defensively you are hence people claiming Marcelo was one of the best, or now Baines xD

Roberto Carlos was no Marcelo/Alba defensivrly so he's right. If you're a fullback you need to be defensively ace to be considered great and if you're good attacking wise aswell then that's a plus.

Defensive fullbacks don't exist in today's football. They are rated based on their attacking prowess

Rummenigge wanted Baines as the heir to Lizarazu but then as I have remembered Baines didn't want to transfer in Germany ...and Baines missed enormous opportunity ,bad mistake , he would play in best European club now. It happened in 2011 and later on Alaba burst onto the scene ---- and yes, the Bayern Munchen has no more need of a left back now
about Marcelo... well I prefer him Baines certainly, if you say Baines can't defend what saying about Marcelo? He's worse in this

Marcelo is more capable of those moments of magic, so I find him more entertaining to watch, but for me Baines is the superior LB of the two.
Regardless, neither are anywhere near Alaba.

Marcelo's attacking qualities are unmatched by any full-back/wing-back atm, the guy would be a top 3 winger ffs. Alaba, Baines, Lahm and even Alves aren't on his level attacking wise. Btw, his defending is underrated, he isn't that bad. He is average when on form, but when you look at what he offers offensively, it compensates.
