I was left impressed with this guys performance to Napoli. Up until I saw him for the first time against Napoli I had heard his name float around abit as a talent but I didn't expect him to be that good. Who ever gets this guy can mould him into the next ribery or robben.. great player

You didn't do that , do you ... He is nothing special at the moment. not even on Gervinho or Sessegnon's level.

This kind of player is a Déjà vu . It's not because he can dribble that his talent is legit. There are others aspects that make you WC or not.


I would get a sex change op if he turns out being WC.

ok maybe i have hyped him up abit too much but he suprised me just how good he was. I am one of those fanboys that have  obsessions with certain players  i useto think quaresma was as good as ronaldo when he was at porto. right now i am big fans of thauvn, ever banega, quintero from porto and paredes from boca. There was also another talent i liked portugese nationality im pretty sure who played against napoli for porto he was a midfielder i really liked him alot

Anyone who saw him at the U20 WC knows he's a class prospect.

Ive heard rumours ronaldo actually copied quaresma's style at lisbon and tried to emulate quaresma. I really liked that porto team of quaresma,anderson, lucho gonzalez and pepe if porto never sold their star players every time they got a great offer who knows where they would be now

Same goes for clubs like OM , OL , fiorentina , Roma, Napoli ... the thruth is they survive by selling their best players.

Not true...  Thauvin started slow, but then blew up in elimination rounds of U20 WC.  He's also the top player on the U23 team right now with the Auxerre winger (forgot his name).  

A lot of pundits here in France say that scouts in France feel he has the same skill level as Hazard.  He had a rough summer because of Garcia leaving Lille and him forcing the transfer to OM... so his first 6 weeks were lost since he never got a preseason.

He was one of the best players in Ligue 1 last year in his first full pro season with 10 goals.  

This is going to be his year though...  he's already benched Payet.  If Baup were smart, he'd put Andre Ayew as the false 9 since the CFs suck and put Payet on the other side.  But Baup has no imagination...

Top prospect.  Will he pan out?  Time will tell.  But i'm impressed that he's made it to the other side of the drama this summer looking good... shows he's mentally strong.  OM is not an easy place either.

If so, it must be Josue. Seems like a very good player so far for Porto. Also in the NT now.

3 assists and one goal, sounds like it could have been more.

Doesn't mean much against lower league opposition ofc but it's a good start and hopefully he performs in the PL now.

Lacks pace and strength... He needs to fix one of those to have a chance.

Tbf Sports there's been quite a few players who don't particularly have pace and strength who have been a success in the PL. ( we have one ourselves )

Yeah but Thauvin hasn't been able to compensate. His core strength is just too low and he gets pushed off the ball easily. Marseille were very patient with him overb2?years and he just never improved. Because defenders knew they could recover on him.pretty easily, they played up and he rarely made them pay.

Has talent. But he's a Cabella clone and Cabella was actually very effective in Ligue 1 where Thauvin has struggled for 2 years.

I wish him the beat though as he's a very good kid. Hope something clicks for him and he take that step...

On the Cabella comparisons, he seems a lot more suited to play on the wing tbh. That's why we did it because we have a million and one AMs but no one who can dribble and run at the fullbacks and create for the striker.

I would have liked to have seen what Cabella could have done under someone who isn't Pardew/Carver but alas it's probably the best thing for him tbh.
