Part 2: http://www.goallegacy.net/t32514-barclay-s-premier-league-discussion-13-14-v2
What was the number of pages again when threads should be re-started again?
Anyway, here's the 3rd version for this.
Crystal Palace 0 - 0 Arsenal @ half-time with Palace creating the better chances

45 yards away, chamakh crashes into Arteta. Red card vagi
Meh doesn't matter. Arteta needs a rest anyways. Should be beating palace with 9 men. nevermind 11.

I thought it was a red. Palace must be gutted for not scoring in this game. Having both Cazorla and Özil on the pitch didn't look that convincing to me

It was Chamakh, therefore, no goal-scoring opportunity. Even if it weren't in the middle of midfield.RedOranje wrote:Clear red, good call by the referee.

Two excellent (and very different) goals from Liverpool's Bitey today. And not even 20' in yet.

So, Palace is going down...
And now that Holloway is gone, I couldn't care less.

lol at some people putting sturridge in the same bracket as suarez, suarez is literally a 1 man team, totally carrying liverpool atm. anything good that liverpool does comes from suarez.

Re: Barclay's Premier League discussion '13-'14 V3
Well to be fair to Liverpool, they weren't exactly stumbling around blindly when Suarez was suspended at the beginning of the season. They're in a really solid place right now, good form, good players, and Suarez is that something extra.

Re: Barclay's Premier League discussion '13-'14 V3
Perez will probably put a 100 million bid on Suarez in January now.
And really didn't think that was a red card for Arteta, he seemed to run into Arteta instead of running towards the ball. From the looks of it, it seemed like Chamakh took the contact, and the legs got tangled.

Superb chip from Sturridge, but man does he make himself look especially punchable when he does that dance.

Re: Barclay's Premier League discussion '13-'14 V3
It's all about how LFC set up today. Instead of the 3-4-1-2 that we'd played in recent weeks, this is more of a 3-1-4-2. I would guess that this is an attempt to get Gerrard and Henderson in more attacking positions. However, it also places a larger onus on the strikers to get into spaces to receive the ball as there is no true #10. It's fairly obvious that Suarez is the more natural player to drop deep and receive the ball, meaning that play was naturally centered around him in the final third.REWB wrote:lol at some people putting sturridge in the same bracket as suarez, suarez is literally a 1 man team, totally carrying liverpool atm. anything good that liverpool does comes from suarez.
In other words, I suppose I'm failing to see how you are using a tactical decision as a stick with which to beat Sturridge. He's the striker leading the line, pulling defenders out of position, and generally being a pest. Moreover, as soon as Suarez scored the second, it was obvious that he was "on" today. Given that factor, everyone in red was obviously trying to facilitate his hat-trick.
Sturridge validated his potential by becoming the fastest LFC player to reach 20 goals. Just because he's not a magician with the ball doesn't make him poor. Different players have different strengths. Right now, LFC have a wonderful combination of strikers with complimentary skills. We now have the luxury of feeding the hot hand. Whoever is in form on the day will likely get the lion's share of opportunities. Need I remind you that all good things came from Sturridge during Suarez's adsence at the beginning of the season? Considering that we were top of the early tables, I would say he didn't do too badly.

Re: Barclay's Premier League discussion '13-'14 V3
Suarez probably best player in the EPL, Sturridge compliments him. Its a wonderful partnership, cant wait till the Emirates next week.
Dont think we will get anything out of it but fascinating none the less.
