‘Yes Juve wanted me, but…’
Stevan Jovetic says he was aware of interest from Juventus in the summer, but does not regret leaving Fiorentina for Manchester City instead.
The Montenegrin was the subject of strong transfer links to the Bianconeri during the summer, before eventually moving out to the Premier League.
“Yes I was aware of their [Juve’s] interest, I read the newspapers and I know that they had talked to my agent,” Jovetic explained in today’s edition of Tuttosport.
“In the end, however, I chose to go abroad and now I am so happy. I do not regret the choice that I have made.
“This summer the situation was simple - I had a price tag of €30m, and I never said that I wanted to go to Juve. The President was clear in saying that I would only go to those who paid that amount.
“I had only asked to leave and they accommodated me. There is nothing else to add.”
The 23-year-old admitted that he still holds Fiorentina in his heart.
“I always follow Fiorentina because I still have many friends there and I left only two months ago.
“I cherish with great affection Florence, for the fans and my former teammates, I still love you all. I have seen many of La Viola’s games, they have played well so far whilst in a few games they have been unlucky.
“But in the end, for me, we were unable to reach that goal of third place by a whisker last season. It will be difficult this year because they are playing in the Europa League too and that is a task that demands a lot of energy.
“They have also had bad luck, with the injury to Mario Gomez and also with Rossi, but he is now proving to be a great player.
“They are still a great team for whom I was very fond of and certainly will be cheering for now.”
Week 8 in Serie A has Fiorentina host Juve.
“The result? Uhmmm…1-0 to Fiorentina, with a goal from Pepito Rossi.”

Bored of reading this
We never paid enough, he had no 'choice'
I wish people would stop sucking up to their new clubs by telling lies.
