I have always said it and it might be because i am a massive fan but i strongly believe that in 2006 Riquelme was at the level similar to Xavi of 08-12 if not better.

His role in taking Villarreal to the Semi Final was immense and his role in taking Villarreal to 3rd in La liga.

And of course his performances at the 2006 World cup which i personally believe Argentina should have made it to the final with that team and Riquelme at his best.

On the same level, he was massive that year. I would take Xavi and Pirlo's consistency however.
