Busquets
Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets has moved to defend both himself and team-mate Neymar from accusations of diving, claiming "it's not play-acting, it's being smart."
The Spain international has been embroiled in scenes of theatricality on the pitch in the past, notably against both Real Madrid and Inter in recent seasons, while his Brazilian team-mate was slammed by Celtic boss Neil Lennon for his part in the dismissal of Scott Brown during the Blaugrana's recent win in Glasgow.
However, Busquets insists it is unjust to label players as 'divers', telling Cadena COPE's 'El Partido de las 12': "Play-acting? It's not play-acting, it's being smart.
"It's a debate we shouldn't be having, because that's not the real issue. It's all too easy to label people."

Simply put, he has a point. All they do is use the limitations in enforcing the rules to their advantage.
It's no different to the motorist that transgresses the laws of the road. I'm certain that not everyone on these forums wears their seatbelt at all times. And even less users stick within the speed limit. It's no different.

Then I guess Pepe's stunt to give Ronaldo the winning penalty should be consider "playing smart" then.

But Madoff was caught, so it was diving and not being smart. To be smart, you don't get caught.VivaStPauli wrote:Bernie Madoff was pretty smart, too - it was still fraud, though.

Also would everyone please get off their high horse? There is at least one notorious diver per team supported here, and when that player dives most of you rush to support him rather than denounce him. Sergio's words are definitely shared by a large amount of his colleagues, both in Spain and outside of it.

While he's getting outperformed by Alex Song he would rather talk nonsense in the media, what a clown

he's 50% true at least. it's play acting AND being smart. though smart is an overstatement. opportunistic is a more appropriate word

Re: Busquets
Song is doing superbly well in his limited time, but better than Busquets...no.
Even if he was doing better, it is in such limited time, comparing them makes no sense. You can only outperform someone if your at least playing a similar amount of minutes to said player.

Re: Busquets
He has a point. Let's be honest here. If a player get's fouled but doesn't fall down, 99% of the times the referee will not give a freekick/penalty. I don't know how many times that has happend to Messi.
And what I find funny regarding that Busquet gif is that when Drogba did that, most people called him a legend but when busquet does it, he is a disgrace of a human being...

Hard to take what? Busquet is a cheater, I have no problem admitting that. He isn't one of my favorite player for that reason.Lex wrote:^ dry your eyes, mate, I know it's hard to take.......
Oh yeah, Busquet is a cheater, but Drogba and C.Ronaldo are all on his level or higher when it comes to diving. Yet very few people say anything about it anymore.

Re: Busquets
Lol @ this thread. What Busquets said is correct. Deal with it. Outside England, diving is seen as clever. In Italy it is seen as smartplay and in Spain it is seen the same way. Cultural difference and all.
I'm sorry, Busquets would have to dive every single game to even reach the deplorable level of Hierro, who made Pepe look like a reverend. It happens, deal with it and stop being a baby. Di Maria is worse and Ronaldo has been a diver all his career.
#dealwithit
And Busquets doesn't even really do that anymore.

Re: Busquets
He's only had 1 yellow in his lofe for diving and almost always gets a foul when he dives so I would say that's pretty smart.
