Re: The Official 'Next Permanent Manager' Thread - II
not too keen on Allegri, I do hope we have a fruitful summer in terms of a strong manager. Pep to city, and reports that mou will go to united, & klopp with a summer to sign and get players ready means PL will be hella interesting.

Re: The Official 'Next Permanent Manager' Thread - II
Latest reports suggest the shortlist is down to 4, Simeone, Allegri, Conte and Sampaoli.
Because if it doesn't end in I or E, we don't want ya.

Allegri literally laughed off the suggestion of us signing him.

Re: The Official 'Next Permanent Manager' Thread - II
According to American Journo Grant Wahl Chelsea are set to sign Conte after the Euros:
A source well-connected at Chelsea tells me he thinks the most likely manager for the club next season is Italian national team coach Antonio Conte. Chelsea would have to wait for Conte until after Euro 2016 in a situation similar to Louis van Gaal’s timing for joining Manchester United after the last World Cup. But I’m told Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is a big fan of Conte and is willing to wait—and that Chelsea officials have already met twice with Conte, including once in Miami.

Well the less reliable spanish media think that Simeone has already told Atletico that he is joining us in the summer.
We're obviously getting both.

Conte alway gave me the feeling that he's made for the EPL. I honestly see him as the perfect fit for Chelsea. You'll see your players be more passionate than you've ever seen them before. His negatives though are his inflexibility and stubborness, if he manages to improve on those aspects you'll have a top manager.

What do you guys think?
I have a unfounded gut feeling it won't work out, though it surely is a sensible, and also interesting, appointment.

Sounds like a done deal.
I am warming to the idea, but I feel it is very much an unknown. I'd still prefer Simeone, though.

I can't know how it will turn out but I'm optimistic. He turned us into a top team again going from 7th to unbeaten champions. His work ethic and ambition are there, its just a question of language and adapting to the league. I think he can bring Chelsea back to the top.

GdS are reporting that Abramovich, Conte and his brother are meeting in Monaco over the next few days to iron out a contract.

Last time Abramovich meet someone in Monaco, it was Eden Hazard, and we all know how that went.

Why do so many powerful and prestigious figures in football seem to use their relatives as
agents?
agents?

Probably an easy way to ensure you're family makes money off your career, instead of sending the money elsewhere.

Re: The Official 'Next Permanent Manager' Thread - II
My main worry with Conte is his love of 2 strikers.
Almost every formation he often uses contains 2 CFs. Whether it is the 4-2-4, 3-5-2, 3-3-4, or 4-3-1-2. He has only sparingly used the 4-3-3 and by the looks, very rarely used the 4-2-3-1.
So I can see a formation change for us if he comes in, hopefully to the 4-3-3, unless he opts for the 4-4-2/4-2-4.
I don't know who would play as our second CF alongside Costa, though.

Re: The Official 'Next Permanent Manager' Thread - II
Another concern, as mentioned before, is his European record. I suppose you could say that his opportunities to impress in the Champions League have been limited and there's therefore too small a sample to fairly judge him on, but from what we do have to go on, it doesn't exactly instill confidence. Especially when you consider that the owner has shown no qualms in the past about axing even managers who are successful in the league if similar form isn't replicated in Europe.
