NBA 2K14

Anybody pick this up yet? GOAT game.. Better than 2K13 for sure

Tons of new animations (they said it has more than 2K12 and 13 combined, don't know about that but its noticeable), everything around the rim has to be earned since there is much more contact now, and you can block everything if you time it right (defense as a whole has been made stronger tbh).. The new skill passes are dope too

My only problems is that since now you can swipe/block whatever you can get your hands on, there tends to be a little too many stolen balls and blocks.. Hopefully they tone it down just a little bit with a patch.. Also the right stick is now used for skill dribbles (when flicked in a particular direction) which is great, but its still also used for shooting/floaters/euro-steps (one held in a particular direction) which can be annoying some times.. A few times I forget and would be dribbling and then hold the stick to one side intending to do a hesitation move, but they end up shooting (its the NBA Live player in me I guess since in that you can flick and/or hold it)

The LeBron path to greatness is GOAT.. You can choose to either build a dynasty with the Heat or a different team (I think they put you on the Knicks) but I chose the Heat dynasty to do first.. The first game was the '14 Finals Game 6 close out game against the Rockets, the second was '14 Finals Game 7 @ Golden State, the third was '15 Game 7 Finals @ LA in against Kobe, Melo, AND Kevin Love .. I'm currently on the fourth game, a conference semi-final Game 7 against the Wizards

When I was playing against GS, they brought up a playoff leading scorers chart.. LeBron was 2nd at 39 pts/game, KD was third at 38 I think.. Who was first? John Wall at 41 pts/game.. I was like wtf?

Yeah I was planning on coping this asap, seen videos and so forth.

Football games in general need to take note, be it FIFA or PES, they light years behind 2K in tons of stuff.

For some *bleep* reason my Path to Greatness didn't save .. The game has an autosave feature ffs.. It's only three games but I'm the type of person who HATES doing things twice, I also had some nice stats and close games during my run

They should of made the objectives in the Path to Greatness more difficult.. Against the Lakers you have to outscore Kobe, but he only took like 10 shots so it was easy.. They should have boosted his stats and made him take 30 shots or something like that.. Or program him to go for 50 and the only thing that can stop him is great defense..

True dat. The only thing I'd say is that simulating a basketball match is considerably easier than a football match.

But yeah, 2K get a lot of things right. Especially when 2K12 first came out, I thought you couldn't make a better basketball game.

I can't see the video on my iPhone.. Don't know wtf is up, ever since I upgraded to iOS 7 I've been having issues watching videos

This game has a few issues, nothing that a patch shouldn't be able to fix though..

The AI can be stupid at times.. More times than I have noticed in previous 2K games they have their foot on the out of bounds line when receiving a pass causing a turn over, fumbling a pass and end up stepping out of bounds, or just straight up misplacing a pass completely that ends up going into the stands

Another thing is they seem to get their spacing off more in this game, for example you pass to a player who seems to be waiting behind the 3-point line (sometimes even calling for the pass), you nail the shot and end up getting 2 points and you're like 'dafuq ' .. This has happened to me several times, they need to keep their toes off the line ffs

Also like I said before, the blocks need to be toned down a bit.. It's entertaining a lot of times but can get out of hand

Oh, and the quarter length for online ranked head to head matches is 6 min .. That's also the case for the Path to Greatness mode, don't know about the other modes

I'm pretty sure it's a confirmed launch title

The next-gen looks great, but not as great as I expected to be honest.. The leap in graphics is not as big I thought it would be

More importantly the gameplay itself looks pretty much the same as current gen.

I don't get it. Was the gameplay supposed to look different?

You do realise, this is in fact NBA 2K14, right? Its on a new engine so there will be new animations here and there while you're playing but saying the gameplay should be different? Oh well.

Well it's not a port they claim, and it has a new engine so yeah I expected the player movement to look a lot different...

I'm sure it will be better next year, when I purchase it

Baby steps, but this is ground breaking. FIFA have to learn a thing or two from 2K.

Nice addition but it'll get old fast.

The guy touched on it a little already, but NBA2K really is the only sports game in recent memory other than Fight Night, that I know people who dont really watch the sport but still want to play the game.

I actually know people that have become NBA fans because of 2K. I didn't take the NBA that seriously until 2K11, myself. Amazing stuff.
