However, referee Cesar Muniz Fernandez - who had been making questionable calls perceived to be in the visitors' favour all game - made a controversial decision to give Carlo Ancelotti's men a penalty that Ronaldo converted.

Rosell mocked the call and said the decision speaks for itself.

"I still can not believe it," Rosell told reporters at Thursday's RFEF assembly in Bilbao.

I find it telling that the ref is getting 50x more criticism than Pepe. The ref made the best decision he could at the time, and as any human being he erred. He was right to extend time beyond 3 minutes due to the scored goal, and while you can disagree or not with allowing the corner play to take off, it's definitely justifiable. Once he committed to this he had to commit to the penalty he thought he saw.

Pepe on the other hand tricked the ref into thinking he had been fouled and earned his team 2 points. Well done or unethical scum?

It might be unethical but you can't blame Pepe for what he did. Players's job is to make the team win and if Pepe is a scum then is Henry, Maradonna, Suarez and every single defender who hurt a player on purpose or every single player who dives.

Ref's is definitely the only one at fault here.

i have seen la liga games were obvious Dives, as in proper obvious went all the way to yellow cards.( for opponent dive was committed against).at a point I thought it was normal to be a shit ref in Spain..

Except that those players you mentioned, and many more here on a weekly basis, get absolutely slaughtered whenever they take advantage of a situation in order to win. Yet in this scenario it is the ref that is receiving nearly all the criticism. Do you think that when Maradona scored the hand of god goal people blamed mostly the ref for not noticing or Maradona? I find it odd that the same doesn't apply to Pepe.

Pepe does not get blamed because a lot of people here were calling him a destroyer of divers and their hero. This was done when he was playing rugby against Barca. So, now their hero has turned into diving *bleep* he always was.

The other half of the people knew he was a jerk and an idiot who should not be allowed on the pitch, so they are not surprised of his act.

Honestly, most of the Madrid fans on the forum recognize unfair decisions given in our favor for what they are. Some will fight it down, but I feel as though we've moved past that. We already got it, the result is in, denying it isn't going to change anything.

It's a weight lifted...at least you know you don't have to look like idiots defending phantom fouls or quoting FIFA rules verbatim at the appropriate time. I don't see why some have to go out of their way convince me that Puyol tripping Nesta in the box warrants a penalty. Shit, I've even people try to justify a penalty given for a keeper holding the ball too long in an Olympic semi-final.

We all have eyes and use them to watch football for a good part of our lives, so just cut the bullshit lol.
