Judging by what happened in the game between Elche and RM today, I certainly can't blame someone for speculating about it. But no, I don't really think so. I honestly, don't feel that the referees benefit Real Madrid any more than any other club in the league, generally speaking. I do watch other La Liga clubs play, every now and then.. and I've seen some really poor referee decisions that don't get any attention, for the simple reason that the playing clubs aren't that popular. The media don't care, and no one else cares because they aren't watching it. If anything, I think Muñiz is just a poor referee.

Game badly needs video tech ffs. Human error is way too big of a factor.

And before people moan about that causing delays, reviewing a 10 second video cip is less time consuming than 6 players mobbing the reff for 2 minutes. Followed by a dodgey goal and more reff crowding. Plus, i'd probably restrict it to red card decisions, penalties and goals.

this would be ideal,but it'd raise some questions... Let's say the attacker is being called offside in a very good situation 1 on 1 with the keeper, the referee whistles, players stop... You watch the replay and you see there was no offside... What can you do as a referee?

They should let the play end first.

So if he was 1 on 1 with the keeper, let him shoot. If it goes in, you watch the replay before giving the goal.

There will always be some form of controversy, but we shouldn't have the view of 'if it can't fix every problem, there's no point having it at all' we should just use a system like that which would fix plenty of problems. Albeit not all of them.

Anything beats human error consistently ruining games.

Kind of wish we wouldve tied.. then we can ACTUALLY ASSESS ISSUES instead of going about like we won.. Isco has absolutely no vision in the final third..all he can do is dribble and play decent passes. For all the shit ozil gets about "being tired at the 70th minute", or "is tactically weak and cant defend", if he played today with the confidence he has at arsenal right now, we wouldve won this game at least 3-0..

i think it would be pretty hard for players when they see the flag up to continue, and it would be a bit odd if it takes time until the phase is finished... It would be ok in certain situations and especially in competitions like UCL or World Cup where a referee error can ruin your entire work (see Man United's last year)... In the league, assuming that you have 38 games, you'll get good and bad decision and overall it won't make much of a difference... OF course, if we believe in the morality of the referees.

People are jumping to conclusions about bribing refs. Far more likely is that this is a case of 'psychological slavery'.

If you don't know what that is, it's not a concept that is only related to football, but it is often written about in good football literature. It is that referees are more favourable to big teams because they are subconsciously afraid of wronging the big teams and any consequences that could come with that. E.g. damage to their reputation.

Wronging Elche is not going to impact on this ref's career as much as wronging Madrid would have. That's why he was more favourable to Madrid.

Yeah I doubt it was a bribe. It's just that the standard of refereeing is pretty shit and like Forza said there's always pressure to favour big teams. It's wrong, but what big team doesn't normally have more going for them decision wise than teams on the other side of the table?
