I have no idea what we won that penalty for. If it was Pepe...then it's perhaps the dive of the decade. If it's for some random shirt pulling or jumping then the ref was just looking for something to give us.

Eliche played fantastic, better than Villareal other than the final third. If they had 2 half decent attackers they would have won...even with the uphill battle against the ref.

Because it was just a league match and not a UCL semi final 2nd leg between Chelsea and Barcelona, that ref's (who is a known nincompoop btw) performance doesn't quite match Ovrebo own but my goodness, it was awful.

The penalty reminds me when Gerrard barged into a player and got a penalty. Seriously, I'm still shocked as to how that was a penalty.

Anyways Madrid still have the same weaknesses as last year. Today Isco and Benzema had very below par games, which essentially meant there was no creation going on.

It was a bad decision but the ref was just plain bad for most of the match. He (Cesar) was always a crappy ref though. His understanding of the game as a ref is on par with Gil...

If a team scores during extra time, it's standard for 1-2 more minutes to be added on. You guys need to brush up on the most basic of footballing knowledge before trying to question professional referees. Well-deserved win for Madrid!

The reason further time was added on was because Eliche players spent approximately 90 seconds celebrating their goal, which was also scored in during the course of time added on.

It was fairly logical.

I dont think it was a penalty btw so lets get that out of the way

I do think that the ref added a minute and a half on to compensate for the celebrations for elche. They scored on 0:30 of added time and the game resumed at around 1:50 to 2:00.

I kind of agree with this but I'd say 30 seconds is more standard for goal-related added time than 90.

What a disgrace. Both goals awarded by referee. Referee awarded Perez with additional 1 minute and plus penalty. My national TV commentators were in shock they openly called madrid cheaters
