And you know full bloody well why the twitter account can't be trusted in the hands of regular posters... it only takes one to ruin everything and there's far too many of you that would revel in the opportunity.

but it's not like opening it up to people would be endangering ruining a good thing...it's not even being used, might as well give it a shot

First and foremost, I'd just like to point out that no-one was showed even an iota of interest in the account when it was up and running with regular tweets, so this sudden burst of concern (connected to the suggestions it be opened to users) seems just a tad disingenuous.

The account it tied to the forums through name and link, so what is posted/done there directly reflects on the forums. It only takes one person posting something they think is funny but many others find offensive or otherwise upsetting to bring down a whole world of hurt on the forums and potentially see them shut down... and before you say "that's very/extremely/super-dooper" unlikely consider that we've already had to deal with one direct instance of such a threat and other less imminent concerns in relation to Goal-Legacy.

And that's only worst case... there's also the (solid) possibility of alienating potential users with too many in-jokes, asinine tweets, or general spam of thread links. Or the (strong) possibility of attracting exactly the type of posters we neither need nor want here. Or the possibility of someone getting their turn at the account and deciding they don't want to share, wherein they change the attached e-mail and password and have a grand old time at the forums' expense. None of these concerns are far-fetched.

So... give it to no-one we wouldn't trust to handle the forums? You mean, like the people we currently have and are considering for Moderator positions? Huh, why didn't we think of that...?

ZIzzle posted a suggestion about the twitter account being used more and he didn't once mention anything about regular users beeing able to post as GL, so its not disingenous when only one person mentioned it given to regular posters. The GL account is not used enough is all everyone is saying.

Red, although you make a good argument it doesnt hurt to give this a shot. I'm sure bhends or whoever is elected to run the account will refrain from stirring trouble when he's representing the forum, especially if it could get him banned in here. So whether you elect a trusted member or get a mod to run it the Twitter account should be put into use
