Ozil vs Muller

Who do you prefer?

Despite Ozil being the better player, I prefer Muller for his versatility, work ethic and ability to find space when there appears to be none available.

Ozil.

Muller is a good player, I see what he does, I see his importance, but he isnt Ozil.

If I were a coach, I'd take Muller in my team. I like the fact that he has a big capacity of effort, bigger than Ozil's; he is a tough guy; he always liked to be involved in fights because he loves his club and he knows what it means to defend the honour of the club.

However, I am not saying that he is better than Ozil, but Muller's style of play is exactly what I want to see when I watch football.

This is a fun one, because in terms of talent Ozil has the higher ceiling, but if I was building my team Thomas Müller would be the first player on my team sheet every time.

Müller is just an old school assassin on the pitch and just has that knack to do what he needs to do in order to help his team win. Not that Ozil doesn't, but I don't ever have to worry about Müller disappearing for long periods in a game.

I love Muller, but I'd take Ozil over him any day of the week. I think Ozil is better in general, as well.

Muller. Don't know how ozil is more talented tbh. The king appreciator of space. Far more effective.

Appreciating space is blatantly one of ozils best strengths. Those off ball runs he makes are perfectly timed with great pace as well.

Ya know I just realized Muller would look a bit like ozil if he had technique could pass and could dribble

Diff players. Muller is far more effective and affects games even when he hasn't done anything. If I was picking a team I would rather have muller

For me, It's gotta be Muller, not because he is a better player but because he is a better team player, imo.

Why choose? Just watch the German NT where you can enjoy both in one team ^^

Explain what you meant by style of football lol. Muller has been with Bayern who have been a team on the front foot while Ozil spent three years counter attacking to at Real Madrid. So What style of play would you pick for them then...

if I wanted a player who will orchestrate the game and feed the attacker I'd root for Ozil. If I'm missing more goalscoring and physiccal presence I'd pick Muller. As RWO said I could even have them both but it depends on what your team is missing. both are class players but Ozil has characteristics I prefer

They both offer different things, however I'd go with Ozil.

I was thinking about how Muller would fit Barca. Imo he would be perfect fit alongside Messi and Neymar in attack

If I had a good deep lying playmaker, I'd take Müller, if I didn't, I'd take Özil.

Müller doesn't have an ounce of a chance against Özil. Contrary to the hype around all of the German youth players that arised after Özil's appearace none of the, absolutely none of them hold a candle compared to Özil and Lahm in their respective positions. Götze, Reus, Müller etc. can't elevate a team as a whole like Özil does and no defender in Germany is even close to Lahm.

Ozil is like Zidane was for France. They were incredibly good as a team, but he was the icing on the cake.

Not the same type of player but both are very good at what they do in my opinion.

Both are very intelligent - very good at finding space and appreciating it but they also utilize it very differently too!

I'd choose Ozil over basically anyone if I was looking for a creative outlet but if I was looking for an unwavering and resolute 90 minute player and a consistent goal threat, I'd have to choose Muller.

My main issue with the question is, that I never thought much about it. In my dream XI, I'd usually have Özil and Müller. Müller plays RM most of the time anyway nowadays, he played as a CAM/SS for Bayern only because Kroos was injured, for Germany, and a full strength Bayern he's the RM/RW player, leaving the center for Özil.

Also I have to disagree a tad with Babun, there's a case to be made for Kroos being equally effective as a #10, if, and only if, the team he plays in prefers a slower, possession-oriented style of play.
