Re: casillas on the bench...again
Since Lopez is playing well and Iker is locked in for Spain - I'm just ambivalent as to who plays any given match. Ancelotti should give a thank you call to Del Bosque for giving him the precious gift of time to let this play out.
I criticize Vicente so much about his selection that I forger how gracefully he handles everything else.

Re: casillas on the bench...again
Maybe it's Carlo's intent to make Iker fail so he can just go and start Diego without pressure.
That insight..

Been saying this for years.FalcaoPunch wrote:Exactly.Scuderio wrote:just hope we dont concede many goals with Casillas playing, Lopez should start if we see the current form, its that simple, and doesnt matter if hes club captain, legend, president, i dont care, lopez is on form
But this is Madrid and despite us saying that not one player is bigger than the club.
Certain fans are making it seem that way.

Re: casillas on the bench...again
yeah we got it.
When Iker wasnt playing it was because it is Ancelotti and Coaching team that sees what is happening in training and not us so it is completely justified..
Then Ancelotti decides Iker is going to play a game and all of a sudden it is because politics..hypocrites.

Re: casillas on the bench...again
It's the champions league dude.
Look how Lopez has been playing. Why in the hell isn't he playing this game?
Because of politics and Ancelotti lacks balls to say to Casillas that he isn't starting anymore thanks to Lopez being on fire.

Casillas playing in Cl means he can't leave for another team in winter.

Re: casillas on the bench...again
It's the people who are mad at any given thing that occurs that radicalize the situation. Both the Lopez' defenders and the people who want Iker to start every game.
Everyone else is simply waiting, we expect Iker to be our keeper, he's our national keeper and no one has ever been better in the clutch. At the same time, we see the great job Lopez is doing and respect him - and respect Carlo's ability to handle the situation.
The people who see it in black and white are the people who create the problem. They want ignore reality and expect some sort of utopia. At this point, Carlo, Iker and Lopez are all handling the situation as best as they possibly can, yet people still want to complain?
Why isn't Lopez starting? Because Iker also needs game time. Not because he won it in training, not because it's a sudden decision, not because anyone made Carlo do it. It seems like Carlo is not waiting for anyone to make him do something...but rather is trying to keep everyone happy.
If you are mad at his approach, then sad day for you, because you are dead wrong.
PS - In 58 years we haven't failed to make it out of the groups stages of the CL - Iker was our keeper for about 13 of those - I don't think him playing a CL group game constitutes the disaster some want it to be.

Do you really think Carlo is handling it, the way it should be handled?Le Samourai wrote:It's the people who are mad at any given thing that occurs that radicalize the situation. Both the Lopez' defenders and the people who want Iker to start every game.

My concern is not that Iker won't do well (because he will), but the fact that the logic has always been that the player that is in form will start.
Simple as that.
Lopez deserves to start over Casillas in the CL, our most important competition. The minute Lopez dips in form or starts to perform poorly, that is when it makes sense to bench him.
Casillas may have been clutch in the past, but this is now. And Lopez has done great since the day he got here.

Re: casillas on the bench...again
Carlo's ignorance of 'logic' really hasn't been limited to this situation. We started Bale and Illaramendi this weekend despite having players who were playing well in their positions. No coach bases his selection for any given game solely on form.
Lopez does deserve to start. If he played a couple poor games he'd deserve to be dropped? Nope. Does Iker deserve to sit on the bench all season? Nope. So we have a problem. If Carlo responds to that by looking for a route where we lose nothing on the pitch and it creates a better environment for the team...what is there to criticize?

"Quiero seguir pero si estoy así en tres meses, pensaría en irme"

Just like Ozil "can't handle the competition" or "fight for a spot" right?

Not really... Iker has stayed and fought. If he loses out, then he's more than entitled to leave. If he would have left this past summer though, i would have lost quite a bit of respect for him.

Re: casillas on the bench...again
That would only apply during the Mou era.
I'm pretty Iker and if not all of Spain believed Iker would regain his starting position under Ancelotti. (Press in Spain essentially deemed that the case when Iker started against Chelsea in the preseason)
Things didn't go the way everyone, including myself (who believed Ancelotti would have benched Lopez from the start to please everyone)
If Iker leaves there will be no hard feelings anyway.

"Real Madrid is the championship leader and a good part of this is thanks to Diego Lopez. Gabi's goal should be well analyzed. There were to many players in Diego's area, so he can't see and this was the reason why he could not stop that shoot. As captain of Real Madrid, I want respect for all Real Madrid players".

Re: casillas on the bench...again
Respect to Iker. Has not made noise eventhough he has been benched in the league for nearly two seasons in a row
That saidhe should get his spot back, he is back to the Iker we all knew and loved, time for Carlo to slide him in

He has to start in the league asap. we're not a charity, Diego is good and served the club well, but Iker is back at being Saint Iker.
