Schalke interested in Matri

With a regular place in the Juventus starting line-up looking difficult for striker Alessandro Matri next season it has been suggested that German side Schalke are interested in taking the attacker to the Bundesliga.

Along with fellow front man Fabio Quagliarella the 28-year-old looks surplus to requirements at the Turin club after the arrival of Fernando Llorente and Carlos Tevez, but whilst the Bianconeri may be willing to listen to offers it remains unclear whether he would welcome a move to the Bundesliga.

According to Tuttomercatoweb the Italian international is their primary target to provide competition for current forward Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and are willing to pay around €15 million for his services.

With Matri looking to regain his place in the Azzurri squad ahead of the World Cup in Brazil next summer regular first-team football will be crucial to achieving this aim.

However, leaving Serie A would also be an equally factor for the former Cagliari man should an offer materialize.
