Re: Bielsa new Athletic Club coach
He had a deal with one of the presidential candidates that if he won he would go to Athletic, before Inter even approached him. That presidential candidate won and now he brought Bielsa as previously agreed. It's a good fit imo.

What did Capparos do to get replaced, then? I thought 6th was a good season for them.

Caparros? he was blamed for playing too much hoofball, and taking the style/quality out of athletic football.

Even though they have a 6'5'' striker up front.
I've never liked sackings like that. Ultimately it's the results that count, especially for a club like Athletic. How else do you expect to get the best out of Llorente?
I wonder if Bielsa will use his wacky 3-3-1-3 system.

I dont think it was the only reason but i did hear about how the fans werent happy with the way they were playing, and how he wasnt bringing the best out of the team.
But the most important reason is the fact that the new president came in, and he brought with him his/a coach with higher pedigree.

Because llorente has more then just heading, unlike other target man like ade and crouch....GoonerJay29 wrote:St_Nick09_of_Goal wrote:Caparros? he was blamed for playing too much hoofball, and taking the style/quality out of athletic football.

Adebayor has much more than just heading. Technically excellent for a big guy.
Anyway, having more than just heading is besides the point. Llorente's strength is heading the ball, holding up the ball and generally being a target man. If you've got someome who is excellent at being a taget man, you'd play to those strengths.
Even with the addition of Ander Herrera, I don't really see Athletic as a stylish side.

I think Athletic have a good team, they really impressed against Barcelona last season.. if Bielsa gets to do something like what he did with Chile at the last WC, it will be a wonderful team to watch.

Re: Bielsa new Athletic Club coach
This great news for Basque football and all Euskadi.
I rate Bielsa highly as he has what it takes to fully take advantage of and further spread the beauty of basque football where caparros did not do effectively enough although I wish luck to him.
I still stand by that the Basques are the most talented in Espana and if used more effectively, will overtake La furia roja as you can already see it happening with Ander, Llorente, azpilicueta, Martinez, Munian.
People say Malaga and all these newly rich teams can challenge the top 2, LOL!
Bilbao will reach the champions league next season.

Re: Bielsa new Athletic Club coach
Well still, I agree, but in spain it's all about style. Ade, eh he's decent technically, he is really fast for someone that size though I agree. I don' think we have seen the best of him at madrid, definitely was out of form.GoonerJay29 wrote:Giggity5313 wrote:
