Re: Martinez to Everton
Has done fantastic so far. Really impressed with his style and how he changes his tactics to suit the situation. Specially today and last week.
My Everton friends don't even remember who their last manager was
Although i wonder where they will end up eventually since the top 5 is so difficult to get into.

7th I reckon RG, Soton and Everton are pretty much shoe ins to finish 7th and 8th in whatever order. The top 6 is impossible to get into.

Disagree.... difficult but not impossible.McAgger wrote:7th I reckon RG, Soton and Everton are pretty much shoe ins to finish 7th and 8th in whatever order. The top 6 is impossible to get into.
For example with Man Yoo performing as they are its very possible Everton could finish above them and i'm still not convinced by Spurs tbh.

I've been impressed with Martinez. I wasn't at the beginning of the season but this Everton team is getting better and better. Will have to watch more of them yet but happy my main man Martinez is doing well

You'll probably prove me wrong CB lol...
But as it stands i'm a bit apprehensive about you, probably due to lack of goals.

I am too actually but Man U result aside last season, Tottenham started slow last season as well. I actually kind of like how Tottenham have been able to get results without playing that well. In the most brief and simple explanation possible, I simply think Tottenham will improve as the season goes on.
Looping this thought back to the original topic: Just like I think Everton will.

Re: Martinez to Everton
So...
Everton finished 5th last season and they didn't lose any players over the summer. How come they're now struggling this badly that halfway through the season they're 12th?
Some time back there was talk of Martinez succeeding Wenger at Arsenal and maybe that would be natural continuation as they both refuse to buy defenders. As a result, only three teams have conceded more goals than Everton this season in the PL.
Is he going to turn Everton's season around or should this be yet another 'sack watch' thread?

Re: Martinez to Everton
Enjoying their downfall after what happened last season. Normally I do like Martinez but right now i have no sympathy for him and for their fans. scrubs punched above their weight for once and lol thought they were suddenly legit. Awesome to see them back where they belong really.
and Lukaku. 28m friggin pounds ... woaaw!!.. thats how you do business.. Mou!!

Re: Martinez to Everton
Lukaku is an awful footballer. It's not even funny. He can't do anything other than be bullish strong, run fast and shoot and sometimes get lucky and score goals.
No wonder Belgium are starting a 19 year old kid from the worst team in Ligue 1 ahead of him as a striker.

Been saying this for years Belgian Heskey, worst thing is that he thinks he's really awesome.
His body language and attitude just PISSES me off so much, hate that *bleep*.

Re: Martinez to Everton
That was a massive mistake to spend so much on him. But I think Martinez panicked because of lack of good strikers around. He probably thought Lukaku would perform as well as he did before.
Think Martinez is focusing on EL more than PL. They always seem to play a level higher than they do in the PL. If they can reach quarters/semis then that's as good as finishing 6th or 7th. Which is what Everton usually do anyways.

Re: Martinez to Everton
The Lukaku criticism is getting a bit too heavy, the guy has scored 15 and 17 Premiership goals in the last two seasons and being only 21 still, should have his best years ahead of him. Sure he's not technically anything amazing, but strikers don't always have to be.
