What the hell is wrong with you people? Most teams would be killing it for this type of player.
Gomez is a world class striker. Hold your horses, world class striker. You know, like the guy who's job it is to score goals, that also happens to be the main objective of the game.
I'm deeply saddened if we really sell him, because players of this type are hard to come by, but I understand having his sort of talent on the bench does not suit him nor football in general.
Gómez to Napoli, Cavani to Arsenal
There is hope after all

Keep Gomez, FFS. Liked him better than Mandzukic in all matches Gomez got to play this season.
And if Bayern sell, give him to a club where he'll tear shit up. Dortmund, Chelsea, Real would be nice.

And yes I did a total 180 on Gomez. Hated his guts back in 2010, but ever since his first decent Bayern season, I've loved the kid. I don't think he suits the style of our NT, but he is awesome for Bayern.

Re: Official: Mario Gomez to Fiorentina
There is a reason why GL doesn't rate Gomez. Its because he doesn't do stepovers, or feints, or roulette's or isn't Iniesta at linking up and isn't entertaining.
Sadly, people have the idea that being a fox-in-the-box CF is easy since you don't have to contribute outside of goals and other requisites.
Yet if scoring goals was so easy then we would have seen Fernando Torres, Pedro, Jermaine Defoe, and Jason Scotland sit around and prowl within the box to score, which they attempt at, yet usually fail.
Gomez' play is passed down among the allegiance of CFs in the mould of Mueller & Inzaghi which requires a CF to have ridiculous intelligence within the box in navigation, drawing out defenders, opening spaces and finding pocket channels of space to which guys like Torres are now incapable of.
He scores goals and lots of them. Big goals within big teams in the Bundesliga (RWO provided) and is a beast in Europe and carried Bayern throughout the comp. last year.
When he was busy recovering from injuries, coming off the bench and competing with Mandzu and Pizzaro; he subbed on usually to teach Manzu & CO. a lesson.
And what did he end up with? 19 goals in 32 apps, most of them off the bench
His record in the previous years even better.
Pizzaro is a god damn Legend in Bundesliga and my favourite striker within the league, and Mandzukic is a solid player, yet Mario is simply their best striker.
Underrated technique, excellent shooter, monstrous hold-up play, ambidextrous, highly-intelligent and very very consistent.
I don't agree that Napoli wouldn't be a good choice for him. The team is financially strong, full of ambition and is being managed by Rafael Benitez, in a league which would suit and appreciate chess strikers like him.

I, too, think that he'd suit Serie A. But I would rather see him stay, or join the top dogs. He deserves it.

Re: Official: Mario Gomez to Fiorentina
He's utter shit. And no, he won't end up at Chelsea. Just like Hulk, Khedira and the other GL legends.
There's a reason Bayern don't want him.
Mata, Oscar and Hazard need a striker that they can link up with and play give and go's bringing the best out of them , stretch play with both vertical and horizontal runs in turn creating more space for them to thrive and also play effectively with his back to goal. Not a tap in merchant that's rarely involved in the build up and contributes f**k all to general play. He's a donkey, Heynckes knows that, so does Pep and Loew and the majority of managers around Europe which is why Napoli is the best club he's been linked with so far. Poor Rafa.
Even Dortmund aren't interested lol.

Re: Official: Mario Gomez to Fiorentina
Lewa is 3 times the player lol.
Gomez is the German Darren Bent. And only looks great because he plays on stacked teams that create a shitload of chances.
Huntelaar would be just as prolific in that system.

ohh you mean aim at row F to have an actual shot at goal ! gimme a break
german darren bent or defoe or whatever a striker is main job meant to score goals that's about it most of the other attributes dont matter as much
and yes huntelaar would be as great
edit do you even think dortmund can afford the sexey beast's wages

Gil ffs, goals are the aim of the game.
Mario gets them and gets them by the shit load.
No he's not a shit player. I don't care if he can't do a step over without breaking every bone in his body, he gets *bleep* goals.

Klose ripped Serie A a new asshole in his mid-thirties, Gomez will probably hit 50 a season in Italy

Couldn't you say the same for lewandowski?...he plays on a stacked team that creates a boatload of chances. He's has terrible finishing. Gomez is much more clinicalGil wrote:Lewa is 3 times the player lol.

First season 13 in 27 apps.
Second season 15 in 29 apps.
Solid totals yet not exactly tearing the league apart

But Lewandowski also plays a part in creating the chances. Gomez not so much.

Re: Official: Mario Gomez to Fiorentina
True, I think Lewa will fit in better as a forward with Pep, which is why it makes sense for Bayern to sell. But as players I think they are pretty even in terms of quality they bring. Just different styles.Casciavit wrote:VendettaRed07 wrote:Couldn't you say the same for lewandowski?...he plays on a stacked team that creates a boatload of chances. He's has terrible finishing. Im sure gomez wishes he could create as well as Lewandowski, but I also think Lewa would love to be as composed infront of goal as Gomez. Both have their flaws but both great players.

Re: Official: Mario Gomez to Fiorentina
0.4 goals/game is not ripping anything a new asshole.
And 5 of those goals came against one scrub-tacular opponent.
Whenever he's come up against us, he's often seen lurking in the shadows of Bonucci's pocket.

BonBon literally specializes on snuffing out poachers. I could count on my fingers how many times Klose mouthed: "che cazzo fai' in the general direction of Leo.

lmfao
Thing is, Klose looks so dejected when he plays against us.
Doesn't help when you're slower, weaker and shorter than 3 men who are tasked to keep an eye on you, also being the lone striker doesn't help

It's more the fact that Lazio has taken the most negative approach to the game in recent times (except for maybe the Coppa Italia this season)

So Napoli apparently is no option anymore...
