I like Stannis ffs.

Wasn't looking forward to him eventually fighting Robb because I wouldn't know who to support. But well, that prospect's off of the table now Laughing

Maybe we're thinking about this the wrong way, what would Tywin have done in Robb's position when Ned was taken in?

For the record I like Stannis as well but in terms of his popularity in the GoT universe he isn't really that popular. That's why pretty much all the Baratheon bannermen sided with Renly even though Stannis had the rightful claim to the throne. This is actually a reason why Robb found it difficult to support Stannis btw, his own bannermen were siding with his younger brother over him.

If you watch the relevant episode Robb tries to suggest supporting Stannis to his bannermen. I feel a bit bad for Robb because in the end it was the plot that killed him Laughing but his death will advance the story now so it won't be for nothing Proud

What did Tywin do when Tyrion was taken in hmm

Tywin would have gone to war for sure but I think he would have made smarter decisions. You need to make the right alliances. Tywin made one with Roose Bolton and if he was in Robb's position I think he would have made one with Stannis/Renly.

I agree with Zeal, If he had locked in Tywin and his army right there and then, not only would he he would have won, they make that clear enough.

If Robb had some vision - he would simply have toyed with Tywin to give Stannis a chance to win, fall back and let Tywin go to war with Stannis - and while that's going marry Margarey Proud and sack Kings Landing.

That is the only way I see him winning really.

Margarey wants to be THE Queen, not just queen in the north. She would have turned down Robb pretty fast unless Robb wanted to be king of Westeros.

Also it's a huge shame that the Vale is under the control of a deranged psycho b*tch. If house Arryn had a strong leader Robb could have had much more options.

It all comes down to Talisa though. Robb would have done things a lot different if his attention was fully on the war.

Tywin couldn't give 2 shits about Tyrion or Cercei. Robb instead trying to make an heir for the north Laughing

Wonder if they will ever reveal that Talisa was a spy. If she was a spy.

They changed the character but I don't think she was a spy. The letters Tywin were writing were likely going to Roose.

Lmao.

I can't wait until the T.V episode catches up to the 8th book.

Where the realm of Narnia opens up and Aslan the talking lion makes his assault on the throne.

His main bannerman Mr. Tumnus is my 3rd favourite new character in the 8th book after Robb stark (Who isn't really dead and goes into hiding for a long time) and his son, Ned stark.

Yup the letters Talisa was writing were a red herring. She was legit in love with Robb Sad

Also RG I disagree about Tywin not caring about Tyrion and Cercei. I mean sure he doesn't really think much of them but they carry his name and he would do anything to make sure that name isn't in jeopardy.

Still on a DWD. Can't remember where exactly because I haven't picked it up in a while. I'll try to finish all the books this summer though.

McAgger wrote:So what do you guys think was the main reason behind The North's downfall??

Robb's lust and naivety, Catelyn letting go of Jaime, Stark's pride and honor, Lannister's exceptional wits, Melisander's witchcraft, or other??

1) Theon Turncloak. His betrayal had Winterfell taken over and a huge number of soldiers marching to the North to fight the Ironborn

2) Cat freeing Jaime, as a result Karstark went apeshit and Robb beheaded him losing a huge chunk of his army. The only reason he went back to Frey because Frey was the only person who had an army similar to the size of the Karstarks. This can actually be split into two reasons.

4) Breaking his promise to Lord Frey. Obvious.

5) Allying with Renly at first, not Stannis. Now this is just plain bad luck. Though it's surprising that he did not go to Stannis first as his father supported Stannis' claim, Renly had the larger army and the mighty Tyrells with him, he was the clear favourite, but then shadow baby comes and kills him. Why did'nt that shadow baby kill Joffrey  After that Stannis viewed Robb as his enemy and an alliance between them was impossible. Also the Tyrells ally with the Lannisters after this.

6) Edmure screwing up. If his uncle did not screw up, Tywin would have never gotten back at King's Landing and the Lannisters would have been crushed. Then he would have to deal with Stannis (they could have made peace terms) and maybe Sansa would have gotten raped/killed. Also Tywin and Robb's forces would have gone head to head and remember, Robb had not lost a single battle he had fought in, Tywin was shit scared of him.

So yeah, most of them are down to stupidity. Robb was the underdog, no one gave him a chance but he shocked everyone by destroying the Lannisters at first. He became a mythical figure by friends and foes alike the 'Young Wolf' but then suddenly everything went to shit.

Some other small factors, his aunt Lysa refusing to help. House Arryn had a large army too. Arya could have ordered Jaqen to kill Tywin but he was on patrol, once again bad luck. At the end of the day he can only blame himself. Roose knew that the North had lost and so betrayed Robb. Frey is just a twisted old fcker.

Game of Thrones - Part 2 - Page 15 Empty Re: Game of Thrones - Part 2

Post by Dante Fri Jun 07, 2013 3:08 pm

Robb Stark lost the war and the North the day he didn't make an alliance with Stannis . I've said this in the previous thread as well . He should have sided with Stannis , like his father would have done , he needed to remember only this to win this war . He was going to avenge his father before anything and his father's choice to support Stannis accidently and eventualy cost him his life Laughing , even the biggest noob would do this , but Robb and Catelyn nooo lol , fk logic ,that was too mainstream for them.

After the alliance is formed , Robb attacks the Rock at full strength and he's succesful . Stannis would conquer King's Landing , because if Tywin was informed that the Rock is breached , he would march towards there to reclaim it instead , along with Highgarden . That would leave Stannis as the winner at Blackwater and he would save Sansa's life too and give the King's justice by killing all the Lannisters he would find in front of him . Now he's the King.

Now Robb sits with all his army inside Casterly Rock , but still holds Kingslayer with him , because he never arrives at Riverun. After being informed of Stannis victory , when Lannisters and Tyrells arrive , Robb threatens to kill the Kingslayer now that Sansa is safe , if they try the slightest of attacks against them. Tywin will do nothing that will risk his only living son and last heir to the Rock his life and he waits. Stannis with all his forces and the strength of King's Landing arrives at the Rock and attacks Lannisters-Tyrells from behind , with the Stark army storming out of the Rock in front of them. The Lannisters and Tyrells being surrounded they would lose a stunning defeat and Tywin would lose the war there. Jaime would also die i assume.

Highgarden and Casterly Rock meet their nemesis and after Stannis and Robb are informed of what happened to Winterfell and the North , they march North from land and sea and erase the Greyjoys from the face of Westeros . Win Laughing

Then as my theory suggests , after everythin is said and done , Jacken H'ghar sits the Iron Throne with the face of Ned Stark , trolling everyone Game of Thrones - Part 2 - Page 15 Trolldolski

Dany is hot, Sean Bean is a legend but everything associated with him dies. I don't fancy being dead.

Stannis is a good lad, Can't have Robb he's taken hmm

Tywin is Alpha.

Loooool

Word of warning, to avoid spoilers from Google suggestions I clicked on 'Images' first then typed the name and pressed enter without looking at the screen.

It's very likely one of the top suggestions will be the name of the person you want followed by something like 'Dead'

And boom, half a show ruined with one word from Google Laughing
