Re: PES 2014
My impressions so far:
Good: inertia, dribbling and separation of ball. Plenty of unforgiving mechanism here but that's what makes this game good. It will grow on you.
Bad: Still instances of players acting like headless chickens, not reacting to loose balls. Graphics are bad, some player models are just wtf and players don't look all that different from each other any more (from distance at least). Frame rate at zoomed camera angles is awful. No wonder why they couldn't pull off rain.
Ugly: switching system is a joke. Also you see players moving on rails and you can't change their pre-determined direction unless you use 'auto cancel'. Sort it out Konami!

Re: PES 2014
Compared to FIFA, you really can't tell if a player is pacey or not. Pacey players also don't really have the nifty movement they do on FIFA either.

Re: PES 2014
Agree with pretty much all of this.... especially the switching system its painfully slow. Hopefully its part of the "gameplay tweaks" which are coming with the day one patch.danyjr wrote:My impressions so far:

Player models are bad in some instances as well, but i expected this as they said a few weeks back they they do them all by hand and thus some are done before others.
The ones that are done look fantastic, but the ones are not completed look horrible lol.... they said they going to add 100s and 100s of faces after launch which is not really acceptable but better late than never i suppose.
As for some of the technical issues i expected it tbh, the current hardware really holds it back on a technical level and while i still expect a great product you can tell its trying to force somethings that the PS3/360 can't handle.
All in all the gameplay is fantastic and very much looking forward to playing the final product and all the game modes.
However though i don't agree you can't tell if a player is pacey or not.... there is a massively distinct difference between a pacey player and one that isn't....
The things you can do with Ribery, Robben, Reus, Walcott etc etc is noticeable from the outset as is it is with the likes of Pogba, Javi Martinez, De Rossi etc etc.
Dribbling does take some used to though.... combining the control, skills and raw speed together can be truly devastating and feels amazing when you pull it off.
These are the things that made me fall in love with PES to begin with and while its not all totally there yet but the key mechanics are finally in place which is enough for me to enjoy it despite some technical short comings.
Well that and how so many players feel and play like their real life counterparts.... like Ronaldo for example

I complain about FIFA a lot, and God knows it's for fair reasons. But I much prefer it from PES in almost every way.

Re: PES 2014
I prefer FIFA too, however Pro Evo's passing looks way more realistic. The way players turn also looks better and is more realistic.
Also the tactics screen is slightly better than FIFA's custom tactics.
Shooting however looks a bit too floaty/fake/light. Looks like they aren't putting power into a shot, although on replays of shots it looks a bit better.

Re: PES 2014
In terms of the atmosphere, it's not that much better than FIFA's. PES just has the appropriate chants, whereas FIFA has generic ones and a few real ones.
Also prefer FIFA's commentary team to Pro Evo's commentary team.

Re: PES 2014
Everyone can agree on that tbh.
PES commentary is down right awful, where as Fifa's is at least decent.

This has been downloading for a full day, I'm just too lazy to keep my ps3 on to let it finish.
I've just been enjoying the fifa 14 demo. I kill it with PSG

This .. Must be a Japanese thing loldanyjr wrote:Aaah...thanks for info. Will try that later.
I have to say the button configuration PES is very poor and extremely complicated. There are like 30 button combos on this game. Like someone was telling me in order to play a low header you have to press <shoot> and then quickly tap <throughball>. This ain't Street Fighter ffs.

Re: PES 2014
The case with PES is that, no game is the same. Teams play differently against different oppositions, and the chances of executing the same move in a match again is very rare. I think all derby games will be fast paced to reflect the intensity, while games against lower opposition will be taken more lightly especially in the master league/career mode.

Re: PES 2014
Speaking of which i really hope the heart thing with regards to the fans really works like they say.
Could make some derbies immense.... imagine Milan v Inter
Shame they couldn't add the stadium editor this year, some of the stuff combined with heart could have been really amazing.
Oh well at least edit mode will allow you to make custom chants.

Also apparently there is going to be a day 1 patch with gameplay improvements from the demo.
Such as cursor switching, goalkeepers and shooting. ( those are the improvements that have been confirmed there might be more)
