I like the way the players pass the ball. Definitely better than FIFA. Looks more realistic.

Re: PES 2014
Just use the knuckle shot for long range, does the trick if the player's body is positioned well.Great Leader Sprucenuce wrote:Ok i take back what i said about the shooting.... just a case of getting used to it and realising that the power depends on more than just how hard you hit it.
It takes into consideration the players body shape and positioning when taking the shot as well.
Just hit an absolute rocket with Benzema.
Honestly, the speed bursts (R1) combination with just using the left stick is great if timed correctly. The dribbling and defending depends a lot on timing.

Try L1 + circle with Pirlo (use the map) and enjoy.Yohan Modric wrote:I like the way the players pass the ball. Definitely better than FIFA. Looks more realistic.

Also like the silky, intricate movement/turning of players too.

Re: PES 2014
The shooting however looks a bit too floaty and fake at times.

Re: PES 2014
Those are having problems with the floated shooting try this...
If you hold the right analogue stick in the direction you want to shoot when the player is about to hit the ball you will hit it( i.e. while the meter is up on screen) with more power.
I have scored some crackers with Balotelli and Benzema.
Also if you wish press triangle when the player is about to hit the ball and you will hit a low shot.

To give PES a chance.Swagg wrote:How the *bleep* do EA not have the CL license?
But in all honesty I also wonder why. It would be amazing to have the champions league in Fifa. Hell even a champions league like tournament structure in online, similar to the fifa world cup games

PES would die even more if they didn't have the CL license.

Because PES has the rights for next 3 years?Swagg wrote:How the *bleep* do EA not have the CL license?
Same reason why PES can't get near PL and Bundesliga rights as EA has bought them all up.

Re: PES 2014
I'm just saying, EA has more money.. They should be able to outbid
Either that or let both games have have access to all licenses, that would mean more money for everybody no?

Well EA can't do anything until Konami's contract is over.

Re: PES 2014
Well perhaps but they have a law abiding contract lol.
EA might try to outbid when the contract is up i suppose.
About the access to all licenses.... EA won't allow that, because they will have to focus on the gameplay
Its a major why Fifa is so popular with the masses, well that and their game modes are rather good.
Take the license exclusivity away and Fifa takes a major hit in sales IMO.
Whenever a casual is asked about PES the question is always the same.... does it have real names and kits like Fifa?
Its so big to these people.

Re: PES 2014
Difference is, you can fix PES's lack of licenses with patches (on all consoles); but with Fifa, you don't have that option.

Re: PES 2014
That would even the playing field, games should be about gameplay/modes and what's actually game orientated.. Licenses should be free to all, and then the customer decides which game to pick after thatGreat Leader Sprucenuce wrote:Well perhaps but they have a law abiding contract lol.

That would happen in a perfect world I guess..
Been playing this demo, GOAT gameplay.. The passing is a little rough but if they fix that for the final version then wow.. If their online was stronger they would be a huge threat to FIFA IMO
@ milandevil.. Patches are also for consoles? I thougt that was a PC only thing?

Re: PES 2014
Yes, patches have always been on console. That is the strength of PES, the community works with the team. Many people don't realize this, that is why they choose Fifa. This is also one of the reasons that EA panicked and managed to lock out stadium editor in PES. Konami gave some of the people in the modding community the edit mode before the release of the game so that patches are available at launch. Here is a community based website (made by PES youtubers) to download patches: http://www.pesuniverse.com/

@Swagg
For the passing, you have the ability to edit your preferred setting at the select sides screen, you can play fully assisted or manual, you also have many more options. So far, I see no problems in the game other than the frame rate and rain which is due to limited ability of current gen consoles.

Re: PES 2014
EA used to have the CL license, but they never put it in the core FIFA game. They made a separate game entirely just for CL.
It's better for PES to have it, imo. They're using it in a more purposeful way for the fan, that they don't have to buy a CL game additional to the main PES.

I had it at semi-assisted I believe.. I don't even use manual passing for FIFA, I hate that shit•MilanDevil• wrote:@Swagg

I need dat online though, PES offers nothing there.. Online gaming is most important to me tbh

Re: PES 2014
I think Konami did mention improvements on online this year (MLO on PES 2013 was a mess) but I can't promise anything as they are yet to reveal that information.

Was wondering that too. You have to press L1 and then analog I think. Takes longer to switch compared to FIFA.

Re: PES 2014
Aaah...thanks for info. Will try that later.
I have to say the button configuration PES is very poor and extremely complicated. There are like 30 button combos on this game. Like someone was telling me in order to play a low header you have to press <shoot> and then quickly tap <throughball>. This ain't Street Fighter ffs.

Re: PES 2014
My impressions so far:
Good: inertia, dribbling and separation of ball. Plenty of unforgiving mechanism here but that's what makes this game good. It will grow on you.
Bad: Still instances of players acting like headless chickens, not reacting to loose balls. Graphics are bad, some player models are just wtf and players don't look all that different from each other any more (from distance at least). Frame rate at zoomed camera angles is awful. No wonder why they couldn't pull off rain.
Ugly: switching system is a joke. Also you see players moving on rails and you can't change their pre-determined direction unless you use 'auto cancel'. Sort it out Konami!
