Re: PES 2014
Its mainly because each face is manually done my hand.
They scrapped all the assets because its an entirely new engine.... so sadly some of the players look awful.
They will be adding more to the game at launch and the months after that or so they say, hopefully the edit mode stuff can fix them till then.
Especially Rafael, he looks Jamaican ffs.

Cross came in from left hand side. No opposition strikers in the penalty box. I tap X lightly to nod the ball back to my goalkeeper. Goalie is on the right hand side of the goal, directly in front of my defender. No wide space for error. Goes in for an own goal.
Embarrassing product.

Re: PES 2014
Honestly if they fix the switching system I will buy PES 2014 and probably will enjoy playing it for a good while.
Without it though, this game is broken.

Re: PES 2014
I think the Pes demo grew on me. I instantly enjoyed the passing, and it looked pretty real at times. It is also much harder to play than Fifa, which I like, specially the defending.
I might get this.
They still have that Major League Online mode or something, right? The equivalent to Ultimate Team in Fifa.

Re: PES 2014
Their menu systems look like such crap. Is that just because its the demo?
The passing is something that I noticed right away (def feels different, in a good way, compared to fifa) when playing a match with portugal then I had to go somewhere and didn't get to finish the match.

Re: PES 2014
Part of it is due to the demo yes..... the cursor speed for example will be fixed and the overall design will be a little different.
But its not surprising as i said before while PES is good on the pitch it struggles with the idea of the complete package and its still the case really.

Re: PES 2014
Yeah, the demo was pretty good.
The menu looked bad, the cursor speed was infuriating and there a general slowness about everything. But the game itself, the ideas of the gameplay I really enjoyed.
The different body positions when playing a pass, the seemingly redone body collision and the finishing/shooting (something I really hated in the last game) were great. And I enjoyed the nice touches, finally players taking up real positions at goal kicks for example, the set peice and corner guideline thing.
Played the demo for about 45 mins then went to Fifa and I couldnt last 45 minutes (played 4 games). The difference in actually being like football was too big. Fifa still feels like its for kids for me.

Re: PES 2014
I think the acceleration in some cases is too slow, even with a quick player it can be imo too hard to get by a slow defender. Perhaps more realistic dunno

Re: PES 2014
Reviews coming out now.
Most scoring 8s and 9s with common theme that they are praising the gameplay, new engine and all the new additions such as Heart.
But they are criticizing presentation and a lack of licenses and game modes in comparison to Fifa's vast selection.
So about what you would expect really.

Aint criticism of the lack of licence kind of played out and pointless now? Everyone and their mother should know by now it takes no longer than half hour and you got full licence for everything.

Re: PES 2014
Yea Dani but these reviewers review games based on their copies they are given.
So naturally these things are not available to them.... but yeah 2 weeks into the games release the internet is crawling with sponsored kits, leagues etc etc so its not a problem really.
It sounds like it plays really well anyway which is all that matters to me.

Re: PES 2014
According to Community manager Adam Bhatti.
The day one patch improves... responsiveness, shooting and general feel as well as fixing the catch up bug ( if you don't know that's when you were through on goal and for some reason no matter if you were Walcott the defender could still catch up to you)
As well as some artificial things like new balls and 3rd kits for certain teams.

Re: PES 2014
Received my copy today (GAME.es) and have to say the issues I had with frame rate are all gone. I genuinely suggest everyone to get the PC version instead of console, provided you have a relatively good PC. The modding community on PC is on another level and I'm playing with 1680x1050 resolution and it looks so much better than on it does on my Xbox.

I saw some PC pics the other day and i do have to say it looks amazing.
I haven't got a PC good enough to run it sadly, if i'm lucky my copy will arrive tomorrow.

Re: PES 2014
I've played the game for a good few hours now. If you liked the demo you'll like this even further. Certain things such as manual switching work better now which was vital, although I still don't find it as smooth as FIFA's.
I don't agree with people who say this is a completely different game to PES 2013. It is a much better version of it, re-skinned using the better graphics engine with added features. And of course certain poor elements of it (such as AI not responding to lose balls) are here to stay I'm afraid.
Music is naff (on PC you can add your own tracks so no problemo). Commentary is awful, I'd even say worse than previous titles. The commentator goes silent for the majority of the match and even when he says something it is so heartless and boring. On the bright side the crowd sounds are more realistic and dynamic, south American teams cheer 'gooool' when you score one, as opposed to the generic 'yeaaaah!'. They also respond to what goes on the pitch e.g. when you do a trick and you're playing on home turf. Generally this works well with their Heart system. For example I scored a goal with Tévez today and his stats go up and he's more likely to perform a good dribble, pass or shot in the course of the match later on.
Dribbling has been the biggest surprise here and I'm absolutely loving it. I can't recall playing a football game with such accuracy and realism when it comes to dribbling. It is a difficult system to pull off at the start, but one that makes sense (using both analogue sticks - use R to shift balance and L to move) and is extremely rewarding. It shines especially if you play against a live opponent.
Graphics, while look great the new engine is far from being optimised for current gen. My PC can run Battlefield 3 on 1680x1050 at 45 FPS easily, yet on PES 2014 I can barely get consistent FPS on the same resolution so I have had to turn my graphics down to make the game run properly and still you get lags here and there. This is probably an issue with PC version only as everything was ok on the demo on my Xbox. Shame.
Some of the faces are absolutely even top players like Mascherano or Riquelme which you would expect them to have a 'star' face. In fact most of the faces in PES 2014 are either not done or poorly done (Puyol is a lol-worthy one for example). Also some player models (body/figure) look nothing like their counterparts. For example Cristiano looks like a lanky gigolo (no pun intended).
I haven't tried some of the new stuff yet (such as combination plays and instant tactics) and I got nothing on game modes - just been playing friendlies so far. PES 2014 certainly looks like a game that will keep me entertained this year, but it can still leave a bitter taste in my mouth at times as I still have some niggling issues with it.

Re: PES 2014
I agree on pretty much everything Danyjr said, been playing it for a few hours as my copy came today.
I have only really been playing exhibition and a bit of CL so can't talk on game modes.
And won't be doing so until i get an option file which fixes all the kits and adds more teams.
But gameplay wise its very very good, completely agree on dribbling as well its very very difficult at times i myself still think i'm quite crap at it but when you pull it off its awesome.
Need some more practice, also agreed on engine being poorly optimized for current gen you can see its a next gen engine forcing itself upon current gen and thus some problems occur.
2015 will be the real test whether its really a game changer or not, but i am enjoying it very much so and it will only get better i imagine when i get the option files/patches to fix the various different things so i can get started on Master League.

@danyjr, Konami hasn't finished all the faces yet, that is why they will release a free DLC containing 100s of faces; the faces of players like riquelme and rafael are not the real ones.
