Maradona could drag Argentina (or Napoli) to a win on his own when he was Messi's age. That's why I have always thought that anyone that claimed that Messi was anywhere as good as Maradona was smoking something illegal.

Why revive an old fossil when they have Pastore? Also, pretty much everyone hates Riquelme, he'd only be a problem in the locker rooms.

The problem is inept tactics and lack of coherency. I also never understood why Batista played the kids against Nigeria and the other one, when he should have played his senior team to integrate them better and to try out new tactics. Argentina play as if we chose 11 random guys from the board and told them, "ok guys, less play".

Of course, but I'm thinking for the future. Riquelme would be a temporal solution to a long term problem. I'd rather have a rougher time with Pastore at first, but then let him settle into his role with time than quickly integrate him into a half assed system once Brazil 2014 comes along.

play roman like zidane for france until he retire, then after that, albiceleste can use pastore or lamela or alvarez

Also, remember Riquelme was hated and dropped from the squad due to his asshole nature. Argentina are already in enough problems and don't need any more of them.

Lamela is way too young for that role, Alvarez isn't even proven. The only one with the experience and proven potential is Pastore.
