If we just looks goal scoring stats then Messi and Ronaldo is going to win as long as they keep playing.

For example, Bayern defense has been rock solid this season and didn't concede any goals against Juve or Barca and only 14 goals in league this season. No one can deny this feat isn't quite impressive, so isn't there a quite good reason to give it to one of their defensive player? Specially if they win treble.

Personally wouldn't mind someone like Lahm getting the award. He is at least one of the best if no the best fullback currently and has been that for years now. He even has 17 assist according to transfermakrt which is quite awesome stat for defender.

If Messi wins it, the trophy is officially dead. There are no way he can be awarded that trophy.

He has ghosted iin the Bayern match, letting his team be trashed 4-0, he got scared and refused to play the second leg.

Messi wasn't injured. Messi said it himself and Vilanova said it as well. Messi isn't injured, he just sucked. People were praising him against PSG, he scored in La Liga and now he is injured between when even Barcelona and Messi say he isn't injured? Get out with the fake excuses.

Messi was shit against Milan, he was shit against Bayern, he was shit against Real. Messi isn't even worthy to be mentionned in the top 3. Muller and Schwveinsteiger are much more worthy than Messi.

Messi is the best player in the world overall, but he hasn't been this season. Barcelona mickey mousing the Liga, while being dominated by Real and getting destroyed in the CL is useless. Messi can score as much as he wants against Saragosse or Osasuna, it change nothing. Cristiano Ronaldo has been better and more clutch than Messi this season.

The best Bayern playes are also above Messi this season. Deal with it.

Messi is the best player in the world, but he has been injured in clutch time. The CL winning team won't have a standout performer ala Messi or Cristiano. The candidates should probably be Ribery, Lewandowski, Messi, Gotze and Cristiano. So, whoever wins of them, except Cristiano who is not as good as Messi and will have a poorer team season, will be a fine choice IMO.

that's a great way of sugarcoating it. of course müller stands out with these stats (just as many CL goals as messi) from the whole bayern team. also, this might be an idividual award but that doesn't mean that the ability to influence and interact with a team should be ignored..

Balon D'or ? I too would choose schweinsteiger, you cant lead a team to the success he has so far this season and not be considered among the top 5 most in form players in european football .
Also the award needs a different face .

It will also be interesting what the team of the year is . If Lewa isnt in the team then everything about this award will officially become a joke

Let's stop with the stats here. if you do, you basically are putting midfielders or defenders out of the race ( not that there are many in though ) .
That being said , Messi is still the favorite to win the ballon d'or.

The ballon d'or is not the ultimate price imo. I'm pretty sure Messi wouldn't mind winning the CL and not being ballon d'or than the opposite.
Muller , Shw , Gundogan might get many votes but at the end of the day Messi might win it again. I'd personnaly vote for Muller but the truth is i didn't watch him much in the league, only in CL . Same goes for Shw

It's not who might win it, nor the best or good performance in the winning team. It's the best individual performance, always has been, always will. You really think anyone from Bayern performed individually better, or even close to Messi?

But he is the best player in the world and will probably win it, because there is no standout performer at the two best teams of the season.

Scweinsteigger doesn't have a chance and shouldn't have it. He is not even the best player at bayern.
