Added R9 most influential season. Messi has had now two seasons like Maradona once had in Napoli.

Alessandro Renica? Bruno Giordano? Fernando de Napoli, Francesco Romano and Andrea Carnevale? Not small time players, my friend. Maradona was not the only superstar at that time for Napels. ;)He only scored 17 goals in 41 games; what an effect!
By your logic, Xavi and Iniesta have no "effect" for Spain and Barcelona. Maradona played in a different position and he wasn't a typical goalscorer either.
Messi is by far a better player than Maradona. Messi is faster, more skillful, more dynamic, much more amazing.
Overall, Messi makes a bigger DIFFERENCE than Maradona.
However, Maradona had something Messi does not have, the ability to CAPTAIN and CONTROL your entire team. The ability to be the heartstrings for a team, almost like Xavi is to spain and barcelona (even though Xavi is a better passer no doubts). Maradona had that special enigma that no one has had ever since his playing days.. That's what made him special.

Faster and more dynamic may be due to the training conditions.

Barcelona carry messi as much as messi carries Barcelona. The style of play is orientated around him so much that some players are simply there for the sole purpose of maximizing messi's game. Added to which The midfield is dominant and technically fluid so that it provides all the channels messi could wish for to exploit his game. Yeas, it bites them on the ass when no one else scores but let's not act like messi is doing it by himself LOL
Compare it with napoli, they are not even in the same stratosphere. Giordano was a classy player, apart from that what? (From 86 87 season) strong defensive players, strong builds and masculine poise. Maradona was on an island as some might say, the only dude trying to do the creative stuff with some help from Giordano. The primary tactics of napolis goals were long shots set pieces and crosses. No fancy lark and intricate tippy tappa. Honestly it's the complete opposite to messi with barca, maradonas teammates didn't try to get the best out of him, they simply couldn't, maradona had to get the best out of them. That is carrying a team

So well said kudos Diego Armando Maradona
A real football connoisseur can't , or hardly to say the least , pick one out of 2 legends and say '' X is miles better than Y '' or '' X is definitely better/greater than Y ''

Maybe you should actually watch Barcelona, you can find some Napoli matches in youtube also.Bénin wrote:Honestly it's the complete opposite to messi with barca, maradonas teammates didn't try to get the best out of him, they simply couldn't, maradona had to get the best out of them.
