Mata is the world's best central attacking midfielder right now

he was absolutely inspiring again today, unbelievable against rubin, another 2 assists, absolutely on top of his game. can't believe i read comments about gotze being better than mata. that's absolutely nuts at this point. i'll go as far as saying mata is the world's best CAM right now.

Yeah I'm sure he was pretty boss in that EL match against Kazan...

He's up there with Cesc and Iniesta I'd say.

i would put ineista ahead of him on the basis that ineista is more experienced, has won more and has done more internationally but on current form, he is up there with ineista, he's certainly ahead of gotze at the moment.

He's behind Cazorla and Silva in the pecking order. Evidence is the recent Finland WC qualifier in which Cazorla and Silva started and Mata didn't with Xavi's and Xabi's injuries. He also got dropped from the squad alltogether earlier this season. Your explanation?

ozil, fabregas, modric, vdv, mata, sneijder, cazorla, silva, etc, etc, etc all play CAM

Ozil is clearly better, and the best AM in the world. Gotze is more of a SS IMO. Top 3 IMO.

I also seem to recall Torres was a starter going to the Euros. Was he better then Llorente, Soldado, Negredo,etc?

Modric is a CM and Fabregas plays either the same position as Iniesta or as a false 9. I think Silva plays as a RAM, the position Mata played in before.

Mata is a great player, but nowhere close to being the best in his position. Ozil, Iniesta, Gotze, Kroos, Fabregas, and Silva are all clearly above him. Top 10 is a safe bet, but nowhere close to being #1.

Torres wasnt a starter going into the Euros. He won his place by playing well. He was actually the Top scorer in the Euros.

he is incomparable at this point, he's making world class performances of the highest quality seem like absolutely nothing, he's hardly inconsistent, his decision making in the final third is almost always right and unlike his rival players (like gotze against malaga) he doesn't have bad games where he misplaces passes and misses chances, his ratio of dribbles completed, passes completed, key passes, goals and assists are better than everybody right now.

he's had 2 seasons at chelsea and maybe he's found the right team to display his ability but he's gone on another level, and having seen silva for 3 seasons, he's no where near consistent enough to be compared, gotze is just a kid who's got immense talent but is still very inconsistent. ozil is also tremendously inconsistent and not as big a goal threat and hasn't had the best season. mata has about 30 assists and 18 goals, he's also got a shit load of stamina for a small man. he's played 55 + games this season without getting injured.

and in terms of ability? mata has as much if not more ability than all the players mentioned. he goes past players with absolute ease and hardly gets phased when facing three players ahead of him.

easily top 3. the only person i rate above mata is ineista.

Why the hell are people talking about Fabregas being better than Mata on current form, Fabregas has been playing like crap for like a whole year now
