They don't know any better, it's like us not knowing about a planet not so far away where everybody gets what they want and all they have to do is work for 2 hours a Week.

Complete and utter control of information, cut off from the World and any small part of the population that are more clued up will be living in fear.

The same South Korea that has the second highest suicide rate on Earth? Where Servicemen, sadly from my own country, can run rampant committing violent and sexual crimes against the natives? Lets be honest the korean Peninsula is hell on earth whether its north or south for the average person living there. The major difference is one is ran by a communist despot, and the other is ran by Western puppets. Sure you may have a fancy cellphone and food choice in the south, but you still relatively live poorly compared to other nations with your level of development.
