Netherland's vs Romania
I am astutely aware that Romania are not a big team, national and at club level, but it is good to see the 'dutch' way of football being slowly introduced to this team. Louis van Gaal has instilled his philosophy, and in doing so, Ajax philosophy on this team. I hope we can play with this much assertiveness when we face the big teams. The irony of the Espana winning the world cup with our methods has not been lost on us.
I hope this continues for many more games.

We are currently leading 1-0. van der Vaart scored a great team goal. The difference between this iteration and the last is the ball circulation. I have not seen us play like this since Rinus Michels was in charge. I am quietly confident that this team will achieve great things. Robin van Persie is not good enough for us though. I hope Hunterleer can be rid of his injuries. I am not comfortable depending on a man that has constantly misfired for us.

Re: Netherland's vs Romania
Louis van Gaal is a total moron. He told earlier this season that FC Barcelona and Spain had to thank him for their system, ´he invented it´. Dutch squad isnt that bad, wont get to the final either. Maybe in the european cup in 2 years, when the players are a bit older.

Well he is arrogant but he has forgotten far more about football than you will ever learn. Spain owe a lot to the dutch. Barcelona actually play more like Louis van Gaal's Ajax than they do Cruyff's Barcelona. The ball circulation that Spainn use is Dutch. Go and wathc the Netherland team that won the 1988 European Championship.
They utilised ball circulation, directly coached to them by the high father of good football, Rinus Michels. The archetypical playerof the Spanish and Barcelona model, Xavi, has payed homage to Louis van Gaal's influence on both Barcelona and Spain as a whole.

Louis van Gaal contributed NOTHING to Barcelona. It has all been Michels and Cruyff.

They have great young players like Maher, Clasie, Wijnaldum, Strootman, but 2014 won't be their year. Maybe 2018.

Im curious to see how the Dutch compete against real top teams. Their pool is the easiest one out of all. I think they will go out in the next round against a south american team.

Re: Netherland's vs Romania
Isn't total football different to possession football?
Total football is about changing positions etc, whereas possession is about keeping the ball.

Who said they are seperate?
In fact, what is possession football? Which team would rather pass the ball the their opponant than another teammate?

Re: Netherland's vs Romania
I've not really seen total football, but Spain's players don't really swap places like total football's players would. That's why they're different I guess.

Re: Netherland's vs Romania
possession football =/= total football, and total football doesn't necessarily imply possession.

Is Indi ready to make the big step? He always impresses me with the national team and Feyenoord.
Would gladly take him at Arsenal.

I rate de Vrij as the better of the two but both he and Indi have attracted interested from a host of large clubs throughout Europe in the last two seasons.
Personally I think both could use another season or two before they're ready for the step up to a "big" side but then I also thought Ryan Babel was going to be a brilliant player back in the day as well (was right about Elia tho) so take that as you will.
