Re: Bayern Munich vs Juventus
4 - Four of the 31 goals conceded by Juventus in all competition this season have come from deflected shots. Unlucky.
Re: Bayern Munich vs Juventus
Agreed. People need to understand that our idiotic gameplan plays to none of Pirlo's strengths. He's allowedc no time on the ball, his only options are behind him or heavily marked, and the only thing left for him to do is run with the ball and hope somebody gives him an actual option.

Dont know why Mandzukic is getting praise though, he was awful. He lost every one on one against achiellini, and just dove all day trying to get PKs without getting touched. And he was offside fotr his assist.
lol he was brilliant. ideal example of a bigass CF that can be useful even without scoring

But people WONT understand that, Father. I've realized how shallow some opinions (bar the exceptions) can be on this forum as its really just a penis measuring litmus test of who can outmuscle who without insight into tactical differences and SWOTCATS
Don't mean to be on a high horse but some of the reactions are very very disappointing

Re: Bayern Munich vs Juventus
Brilliant? He lost every single header against Chiellini and did nothing of note other than diving in the box every chance he got. He passed the ball around decently but thats not aCFs job. He didnt hold the ball up well, score, or create scorung chances. If he was a midfielder it would be a good performance. But hes a striker.

Are you insane? He pressured our defenders, robbed Barzagli, drew Chiellini in with fouls, and was a physical presence the entire game.
Re: Bayern Munich vs Juventus
Matri pressured Bayerns defenders too, are you gonna tell me he had a good game too?
I dont remember Chiellini fouling him once besides an elbow or two, has nothing to do with Mandzukic though.
And he robbed Barzagli because he was standing 5 feet away from him and Buffon STILL decided to pass it to Barzagli. Im sorry but i couldve stole it from him too.

Re: Bayern Munich vs Juventus
Just saw the highlights. Disappointed in Juve. Had money on the draw so obviously expected more from them.
Looking at the match though, Bayern were very strong. Going to be extremely difficult for Juve to come back form this.

actually, he was pretty good at most of the things you pointed out. there is nothing more to say to that, no idea what game you saw. this is getting messiah'ish

Re: Bayern Munich vs Juventus
Yes it was. Cant even fathom how you could argue that.
And Mandzukic passed the ball well. He couldnt hold the ball up because he lost evry header, and when he had the chance to with his feet he made a quick pass backwards. He didnt score. He dove all day in the box, wouldnt have even been harsh to book him for how much he dove. And he assisted a goal by being offsides. For a midfielder, this is a good game. For a striker, it isnt.

No Muller was onside, when whoever it was took that shot that Buffon spilled, Mandzukic was offside and it wasn't close.

Re: Bayern Munich vs Juventus
his upper body is closer to goal only, so it's pretty close. and however you wanna view manduzkic' performance, he did well in the confines of this game and that's all i'm sayin. before this gets all philosophical again about the interpretation what strikers or midfielders have to do etc..

Re: Bayern Munich vs Juventus
Mandzukic battled well, not WC but he played very well IMO. Ribery Man of the Match.
Whoever said 'Then I remembered Chiellini was a juve player lmao' Im not really sure what you meant by that
Im not sure what to make of this. We got played off the park in the first half. Should have conceded a penalty as well. All in all, the scoreline should have been higher in favor of Bayern, and we did absolutely nothing in attack. I don't see that big of a turn around in the second leg, but then again, anything is possible.
I really cant see us coming out this flat in the second half.
Buffon played great btw.

Re: Bayern Munich vs Juventus
18/25 passes is good. As i said he passed the ball well. He assiated a goal by being offside and it wasnt close. He "drew" 4 fouls by diving as i said. And interceptions and tackles are a defenders job. Youre telling me a striker had a good game with one of the reasons being he excelled doing a defenders work. And he only got one shot on target out of 3, with that one being straight at Buffon. And i dont remember him creating any chances, so maybe you can clarify which ones?
Also, dont care what the stats say, they had way more than 3 aerial duels, and hd lost every one, thd only time he "won" was when Chiellini put an elbow into him so he fell down crying.

Don't know who made those stats but they're absolute bollocks.
For a start I seen about 4 different replays where Chiellini won the ball with a header, only one of those was a foul.

Re: Bayern Munich vs Juventus
Its almost as if Conte tried to play in the antithesis of what works for Juve and what doesn't.
Fullbacks not counter-pressing to make it a deep line of 5-3-2, stripping them of their wingback role to crucially nullify Robbery. Play Marchisio & Pirlo in a frustratingly sacrifical role which strips MvP of all its ability and playing two strikers which compare Apples and oranges. He is brilliant beyond doubt, but his rookie mistakes and arrogance cost him

Closing down, pressing and tracking back isn't only a defenders job.

I must have imagined the 3 headers Chiellini won then
Also, there was more than 3 duels in the air.
