Re: PSG vs Barcelona
According to a spanish TV, PSG will line up with:
Sirigu
Jallet Alex Silva Maxwell
Moura Matuidi Verrati Pastore
---Lavezzi - Ibra
With this lineup, I don't think they can park the bus. They would be playing at our game. And we are the best at playing at our game (I mean attack, not posession).
If they line up like this, we should win. I can see us conceding but scoring at least 2 or 3 on them.

Re: PSG vs Barcelona
The only two in that team that don't have great work rate would be Pastore and Ibra. Guys like Lucas and Lavezzi can put in a defensive shift if Carlo asks them to.
I think the obvious weakness here is the fullbacks. I don't think Jallet and Maxwell will be able to keep up for 90 minutes.
Should be a great game, I won't lie to you by saying I wish you good luck though (not that you'd need it anyway)

Intresting. But without the ball I doubt they will look like that. Ibra they will leave up front alone, but no way they will allow Lavezzi the same luxary.
But still, it doesnt look very strong defensively just with the names.

With two players that contribute so little as Pastore in Ibra, it's not possible to park the bus. Park the bus vs. us needs at least 9 players in defence (usually all 10 of them).
I'm not entirely convinced on Lavezzi defensively, and don't know about Verrati and Moura, but I doubt they are very good in that regard.

Re: PSG vs Barcelona
Well I guess we'll find out later then huh?
It'll be interesting to see how PSG's young guns do. These types of games provide a nice stage for young talents to really shine (or flub their lines).

I agree I just can't see them playing 4-4-2 on defence. A 4-2-3-1 seems like the more likely (and natural) option.

Re: PSG vs Barcelona
Is Pastore even starting? You could park the bus with one player that doesn't press, the problem is that if that player is too slow to run (as Ibra is) then it's impossible to take advantage of the quick counters.

Very true but Ibra does have great hold up play going for him. He can be like a "home base" for PSG's attack receiving the ball then laying it off to the wings for Lucas and Lavezzi or linking up with Pastore/Matuidi/Veratti.
However I think the likely score for PSG goals will be set pieces. They got size as well as players who can deliver a good cross when needed. (Becks )

Dont get me wrong, im not desperate to sell him, not if he is willing to start on the bench in the important games/75% of the games..but what I am saying is, if he is unhappy with that I would much rather he leave than we change the system for him.
Very aptly put.

Which means he would be replacing Toni Kroos which is unlikely.

Incredible player but just another case of Barca not giving a *bleep* about specific player positions and expecting them to be world class all over the pitch.
Very well said. There are two positions for which Barca just cannot buy or even create top players in the next few years - the conventional center forward and the trequartista because with Messi playing the way he does such players will almost surely not be able to fit alongside him.

Re: PSG vs Barcelona
Dani Alves was our best player since the first minute and after that goal does anyone still have any doubt what this guy still brings to our team ?
Messi's injury could be a big concern.

Re: PSG vs Barcelona
We started slow but after minute 25 we've been masters of the game. Their only clear chance has been an own shot. Pity messi is injured but it doesn't look serious at all, I hope he can play the second leg.

Re: PSG vs Barcelona
Ok........3 things.
1. Sell Dani Alves
2. I am so sad Valdes is leaving.
3. We aint winning the CL in my opinion. Too much constant calamaity, injuries and fodder error.

CL is out of our sight because... ehem... we bought DM instead of CB that should have been bought two seasons ago.

Re: PSG vs Barcelona
I honestly feel robbed. Not because this result was completely opposite of what we saw on the field but COME ON. Has something to do with the first goal but mostly due to the way PSG we're able to level it like a bunch of Germans in the last minute.
I don't think it was Valdes' fault actually. Well he could've done better but it wasn't a blunder. Ball got hit slightly off course.
And Alves.
Any indication on how long Messi is out?

Re: PSG vs Barcelona
Nah, we could still win without another centerback. Today, none of the goals were the centerbacks fault at all.
The reason I think is you need luck to win the CL, we have none.
Against Milan, first goal handball, sets the wheels in motion for their win.
This one, they get to 1-1 from an offside goal from a freekick which I am not even sure if a freekick..which came from a corner they shouldnt of got because of two players were down with head injuries meaning the game should be stopped instantly..it wasnt.
Then that calamity 2nd goal defelection with Valdes doing the limbo or I dont know what.
