Simeone Renews Until 2017
Diego Pablo Simeone has renewed his contract with Atlético de Madrid for the next four seasons, making the Argentine a fixture on the 'Rojiblanco' bench until 2017.
The coach's sister and agent, Natalia Simeone, was responsible for closing the new deal and the contract will be signed on Wednesday in the Vicente Calderón VIP room at 1.30 p.m.
The manager, who had two stints as an Atleti player (1994-97 and 2003-05), winning the historic Spanish League and Copa del Rey double in 1996, returned to the club at the end of December 2011 to take charge of the first team as manager.
Simeone notched up two European titles in his first few months as the 'Rojiblanco' coach, the Europa League – by beating Athletic de Bilbao in Bucharest 3-0 – and the European Super Cup – by giving Chelsea a 4-1 beating – and this season he has succeeded in guiding the team through to the Copa del Rey final.
The Argentine manager came to Atlético de Madrid as a replacement for Gregorio Manzano and was presented as the new coach on 29th December, 2011. In the 74 games played under his lead, he has secured 48 wins, 13 draws and suffered 13 defeats.
With 'El Cholo' at the helm, Atlético has set a new record for consecutive wins in European competition, with a total of 16.

I doubt Atletico will do as well as this season next season. Real Madrid and Barca will strengthen even more this Summer and Falcao may leave Atletico.

Atleti will be fine without him as long as they get a good replacement, I don't rate Costa high enough to replace him. They need to bring someone in with the money they get from selling and hopefully they get the CL spot, which will help tremendously as well.Yohan Modric wrote:I doubt Atletico will do as well as this season next season. this is good, they'll fare well in the cl next season
i dont think falcao's absence will be that much vital, but i also dont think they will find an equal so they will arguably be weaker than their current side no matter what
