No, because unlike Milan we are still winning and are top of the league.

Second, hunger is not the problem this season. They didnt lose to Madrid because of any lack of hunger, nor did they lose to Milan for that reason.

And if none of the youth players play a big role in this team...its because other former youth players are playing a big role.

He's primarily a central defender. He's played at LB a lot this season because BAE (starting LB) missed half the season through injury and Spurs only replacement for him is Naughton who is not a natural LB. Vertonghen however can play LB and so he has been there a lot this season. He still gets the odd start over there for tactical reasons or to give BAE a rest, but it BAE is fit and rested, Vertonghen will play CB. Vertonghen is a CB who can play LB, not the other way around.

He's not the greatest at LB either. He puts in good displays and he's generally solid, but he's not a natural LB and you can tell. Still probably better than Alba Laughing

Vertonghen can also play DM, if he needs to. But he's not really a DM either, but that is a position he can play.

Yeah Barca should have gone after Vertonghen. His ability on the ball and passing is good enough, his defensive ability is outstanding, and he is versatile. He's everything Barca needed, and for 12 million no less.

Hindsight is 20/20. One of Spurs best and most consistent players this season. A rock at the back. Barca could have used him Sad

Why would Vertonghen go from a team that can win a real trophy like the EL and challenge for EPL next season to a team that is hopelessly behind in the league and won't win the CL scratch

I am not comparing their positions in the league I am comparing how they are playing things are getting stale in Barca and without adding something new and I don't know if it's a player that can reignite Barca to get back on track and get everything ticking like normal or if they just need better motivation but something different needs to be done to give them what they lack....In other words I think they need someone to reignite their drive.

Also yes I know Barca's key players are former youth players but responsibility should be spread a lot more equally across the great players Barca possess in their squad.

Lets look at their squad:

Valdes - Leaving, is garbage anyways.
Alves - Past it.
Puyol - Past it.
Mascherano - Complete garbage ever since he came to Barca.
Pique - Good CB but needs another good one next to him that can.hide his flaws lile Puyol used to.
Alba - A bit of a liability defensively, otherwise good.
Xavi - Getting to the end, needs someone to step up and take his.place.
Busquets - Always been overrated, and now with Barca not dominating as much as they used to its showing.
Iniesta - Incredible player, but too much is being asked of him recently.
Sanchez - Looks out of place on the team, especially since they play with no width anymore.
Villa - Past it.
Messi - Dont really need to go into this, but like Iniesta, as incredible as he is, he cant do everything.
Pedro - Needs to step up badly, cuz right now he also looks out of place.
Fabregas - Either needs to step into Xavis place, or move on, cuz hss not a winger and hes not taking that False 9 spot from Messi.

But again, drive is not the problem. You are actually doing a disservice to Madrid and Milan performances to say the reason they won was because Barca were not "up for it". That is not true.

Also, things are not "stale". You could of made that arguement last year but not this one. We made a reasonable amount of changes to what was a winning combination...in fact I can argue, too many changes.

Resonsibilty shared equally? You have to elaborate a little on this because I dont really understand.

Valdes isn't garbage. I'm not sure where the notion of him being garbage came from. If anything he's underrated.

Puyol's still quality, however Barca do need to start thinking of a replacement for him.

Busquets isn't overrated, he's the best DM in the World and suits Barca perfectly.

Xavi isn't past it.

It doesnt matter anyway. Anyone with two eyes should come to the conclusion that the quality of players overall, is not the problem.

Barca has flaws like any team, they need to add a couple of peices, but quality has nothing to do with not beating Milan and Madrid.
