Re: Guardiola to Arsenal ?
Guardiola is going to get linked with every big club where there might be a managerial vacancy. It's not impossible that he'd join Arsenal, but not likely either. You could replace "Arsenal" in that sentence with half a dozen clubs.

Indeed. I even read links of him with Bayern, even with such an adventurous constellation as having Pep+Jupp together for the next seasonArt Morte wrote:Guardiola is going to get linked with every big club where there might be a managerial vacancy.

Re: Guardiola to Arsenal ?
Well that was a tad bit of sarcastic exaggeration but thats still a widely implied opinion from what I've read on the forum. Although I understand that lots of it is just friendly trolling too, lol.ynwa wrote:barca 2011 wrote:
Well if your name is Pep Guardiola and you ask half this forum, you do it so you can prove to the world that you're a semi-competent manager who didn't have a four-year fluke because he was given a team that even a blind man could coach.
Bar bitter RM fans nobody has said he's fluked 4 years....................

Re: Guardiola to Arsenal ?
I dont want to make Pep out to be some Catalan Gandhi or something, but I dont think people understand what kind of mentality Pep has.
Throwing 20m a year at him wont get it done, if the project is crap with crap owners and crap management he isnt coming.
This is a guy who was willing to coach Barca B for nothing.

I agree and it's very clear that Pep knows a good project when he sees it but not even he could have envisioned the level of success After the Barca B job. Or maybe he could. Thats whats unbelievable about him. Maybe he could but he also was behind a rare occurance in which he began with that Barca B job and pretty much carried it in to what would end with Euro 2012. No other coach will ever do that again, be so successful with such simplicity in a project which he had so much to do with. He was willing to take the Barca B job for free and now he does not need the money.

Re: Guardiola to Arsenal ?
Personally, I don't think this makes sense because until Pep can show he is willing to dedicate himself to a club like SAF, Moyes, or Wenger I doubt he is really any different than Mourinho.
Despite what is insinuated, he is really only suited for clubs like City and Chelsea where he can fulfill his "project" in a short time span so he can move onto the next project within a 4 to 5 year period.

The difference between Mourinho and Pep as of now is Mourinho ruins clubs when he leaves or as it seems and Pep leaves the club is still successfulMotogp69 wrote:Personally, I don't think this makes sense because until Pep can show he is willing to dedicate himself to a club like SAF, Moyes, or Wenger I doubt he is really any different than Mourinho.

i guess i just wont ever understand the "coach who leaves is responsible for how the team is managed after said coach leaves" notion.

Re: Guardiola to Arsenal ?
Average manager who'll get exposed at his next job.
Was fortunate to be blessed with the maybe the GOAT in Messi, three of Spain's best ever players in Puyol, Xavi & Iniesta and an academy which sowed the seeds for Barca's success decades before he actually got the job.
Sick and tired of the wankfest over this guy. Give an average manager like Roberto Martinez those same group of players and he'd be just as successful.
P.S. this isn't a WUM attempt either, it's just what's needs to be said whether you like it or not.

Was his success with Barca B also a fluke?

Re: Guardiola to Arsenal ?
Wenger has a positive net spend this past decade. Get real.
English media has brainwashed Arsenal fans. You should be delighted Wenger has gotten the club consistent top 4 finishes since Henry left.

Lets not get too excited. Wasn't Barca B in 3rd division when Pep came? Then got promoted and got offered the top job...

No WUM?
Just shows how badly you've declined. Your falling off harder than Torres.

Re: Guardiola to Arsenal ?
I would agree that Roberto Martinez is a better coach than Pep, but until Roberto gets his shot in a bigger club to cement that belief, it is only a belief. Personally, I think Roberto would be perfect for the soon to be vacant City job.
