Guardiola to Arsenal ?
Any thoughts on this rumor ? Is it likely, is it possible, could he turn Arsenal around , would he bring new players in, who would he bring ? Would Arsenal fans rather have him over Wenger ?
Also I was wondering if he would try to implement the Barcelona posession system (false nine, high def line, lots of pressing), or would he try to mix it up or go for something else entirely.

Since it's a rumor, goal.com will do.

Your implication that SAF is mortal and, therefore, succumbs to the same fate most older working stiffs are subjected to in the end borders on blasphemy and sacrilegeRebaño Sagrado wrote:Pep is going to United....

Re: Guardiola to Arsenal ?
i dont see it happening. what ive seen from the articles ive read on the matter is that pep likes how arsenal play and seems to be a fan of how their youth is brought up.
but once he gets the closer view of what issues they have as a club and what little money he will have to work with i doubt that will appeal to him.
more likely to go to chelsea or one of the manchester clubs imo where he will have free reign and a boat load more resources.

Whilst I love Wenger, Pep is what we need. He would have no qualms in shipping out those players not pulling their weight, this is the guy who got rid of Ronaldinho, Deco after all and brought unprecedented success.
He would at least make Arsenal truly competitive again.

I dont think Pep cares about resources.
If he doesnt go to Arsenal, that wouldnt be the reason.

Re: Guardiola to Arsenal ?
i believe that a manager should be given enough time to form and build a team into winners. but i think what was wrong is that in Arsenal, many of our good players have been allowed to let their contracts run down and basically control where and when they can leave. our best players have been lost for no fee or sold off for far too low transfer fees with inadequate replacements being brought in.

Re: Guardiola to Arsenal ?
One concern is that right now, we need some quality signings to get back to where we were. Pep had a great team at Barcelona but most of the players were already there when he was appointed. The guys he brought in from elsewhere weren't always great signings for the club, and tbh he never had to deal with players who didn't want to play for the team anymore, like Arsene has had to, due to Barca's success. How do we know how Pep would deal with the situations that Wenger found himself in? It would definitely be a harder job than the one he had at Barcelona, although I can see him improving our passing game.

This. Pep's transfers have probably been some of the worst I have seen almost like the old Valencia. Also, I dont think Pep can necessarily improve Arsenal. Wenger is a extremely capable manager who has had to deal with certain problems with his board in the past. Pep has to first prove himself in a different team with a different set of players. It would be interesting to see if he continues with his philosophy or adapts it. He has had a great start to his career, so I hope he does well and becomes Spain's coach one day.

Similar style of football, deals with his players well and uses his money (wisely or not is another question) is asking for success. Whether Arsenal have the money to buy him is another question though it can prove a great deal of success!

If Pep goes anywhere, he will go to Italy, probably Milan.

Re: Guardiola to Arsenal ?
Pep will take the Qatar job and get payed 20 gazillions a year, for a less stressful job. I thought that was well known already? That is, if Tito's head will not explode before, which case he has to return to Barcelona.

Dude Tito's got his job more than down. And I'd forgotten about the Qatar offer. I thought it was utter insanity when I first heard it. But knowing football I wouldn't call it impossible in the future.jiopsi wrote:Pep will take the Qatar job and get payed 20 gazillions a year, for a less stressful job. Well if your name is Pep Guardiola and you ask half this forum, you do it so you can prove to the world that you're a semi-competent manager who didn't have a four-year fluke because he was given a team that even a blind man could coach.

Re: Guardiola to Arsenal ?
If Pep was to manage a London club it'll be Chelsea. He's not going to reject 20m a season. There is no way.
I feel he's going to go to City though. Txiki is their new DoF and he'll make Pep his number one target as Mancini is a CL flop.

Re: Guardiola to Arsenal ?
That may be true for an average manager, but Pep already has trucks load for money from being a player in Barcelona, right now he is just doing this out of passion not to pay the bills.ynwa wrote:If Pep was to manage a London club it'll be Chelsea. Re: Guardiola to Arsenal ?
Guardiola is going to get linked with every big club where there might be a managerial vacancy. It's not impossible that he'd join Arsenal, but not likely either. You could replace "Arsenal" in that sentence with half a dozen clubs.
