Di Matteo: Fergie mind games are overrated
Chelsea manager Di Matteo played down the significance of the public jousting with rival bosses for which Ferguson has become notorious during his near 26 years at Manchester United.
But he revealed he would resort to fighting fire with fire if necessary as he prepared to pit his wits against the man he admitted was still the best in the business in Sunday's mouthwatering Premier League clash between the sides.
"If I need to, I will, but there is no need and sometimes it doesn't have to be publicly," said Di Matteo, who Juan Mata revealed this week had proven a master of getting inside his own players' heads.
Ferguson has a reputation for getting inside the head of United's title rivals but Di Matteo was quick to point out the effect the Scot's mind games had on champions Manchester City.
"They didn't work last season, I think," he added. "You make it out a little bit more than it is at the end of the day."

Well and truly said. Only time it has worked was against the gullible Keegan(Mole ). Besides, its only a game when you play along with it.

No need to bring Keegan into this
Everyone knows he lets his heart come before his head but he still created a fantastic team from scratch and was very unlucky to not win the league at least once which Dalglish then destroyed
No need at all
Although i do agree with Di Matteo, also the league was over when Keegan had his rant he just got desperate lol.

What about the Rafa rant in 09, sadly i have to admit that it worked on Rafa, that rant might have cost us the league

No, home draws and playing Skrtl at right back only to get wrecked by a certain Mr. Downing cost Liverpool the league. Fergie time for the Macheda goal also didn't help.

Meh Rafa's Meester Ferguson speech was premeditated, cliché and, frankly, rather bland. Keegan's was spontaneous, on-the-spot, pure unadulterated rage lol
