Roberto di Matteo
Well in his few games, this guy has had quite an impressive record. I remember when AVB got let go that RDM was in as interim coach, with the Chelsea looking to pick someone up in the summer. Might be a bit knee-jerk, and there's still a 2nd leg to the CL but do you guys think he will now be the coach, full-on. Is he on the start to having a career as a top name coach?

Re: Roberto di Matteo
I can guarantee you this, if he wins the CL for Chelsea, he'll be guaranteed a 10 year multimillion contract with a private jet and a personal mansion amongst other benefits. :lol!:

How do you not make it to the group stage when you get an automatic qualification?beatrixasdfghjk. wrote:Unless he doesn't make it to the group stage next season :vagi:.Barrettinator wrote:I can guarantee you this, if he wins the CL for Chelsea, he'll be guaranteed a 10 year multimillion contract with a private jet and a personal mansion amongst other benefits. :lol!:

Re: Roberto di Matteo
Chelsea need to keep sacking managers half way through the season it's when they do their best work in the UCL......

Re: Roberto di Matteo
Unfortunately unlikely scenario of Chelsea winning the CL this season is the only guarantee that RDM would become permanent.
An FA Cup win and a 4th place finish might just do the trick, but we all know his fate lies in the CL campaign

Re: Roberto di Matteo
Even if he doesn't get the job at Chelsea, his work so far will earn him a good job at another club. He has built a good resume for himself with what he's done with Chelsea.

Wiki says CL winners that don't qualify from league finish have to start the tournament from the first qualifying round.

Avram Grant got Chelsea to the CL final yet he was sacked.......
Personally having seen Di Matteo before he joined Chelsea, he's a manager thats good in the short term as he's showing atm but in the long term i wouldnt have much confidence him.
I dont expect Chelsea to keep him on either.

I don't get the wank over di Matteo. All he has done is revert Chelsea back to it's usual, more effective style. Of course it's going to be more effective than the pretty football AVB wanted, without the players to pull it off.
Chelsea will hire another manager.

Re: Roberto di Matteo
Guus Hiddink, albeit winning an FA Cup, got knocked out in the CL semi final......yet he was offered the job but he stuck to his NT job. He was offered the job again before AVB was hired, he still refused.Great Leader Sprucenuce wrote:Avram Grant got Chelsea to the CL final yet he was sacked.......

It's more a case of Terry and co. actually giving a shit now that AVB is gone. I never saw this sort of passion and energy during Andre's last few weeks at Chelsea

Re: Roberto di Matteo
That's where the issue of "man management" comes into question. AVB was a HORRIBLE man manager to say the least.Lex wrote:It's more a case of Terry and co. actually giving a shit now that AVB is gone. I never saw this sort of passion and energy during Andre's last few weeks at Chelsea

Re: Roberto di Matteo
Should be Chelsea's new manager.
He is doing great. 2-0 at the moment vs. Liverpool in the FA Cup final.

Re: Roberto di Matteo
so far he deserves it but I think that the players didn't want to preform under AVB. Its more that e players are going on "hooray" so far so good di matteo

Re: Roberto di Matteo
honeymoon periods always happen. dalglish came in and immediately liverpool started winning last year, toppling multiple top teams in the process and putting in good performances. now look at where he stands with the team. give it time, but don't judge off the initial results.
