Thing is, Wilshere was not the best midfielder on those two legs vs Barca. I think anyone but Arsenal fans can agree that Banega had a far superior game in which he was far and away the best one.

Although Podolski had an even better game Very Happy

Banega.. than Wilshere (especially @ the emirates)!

Team that Barca had hardtime to beat:

Valencia @ Camp nou .. ( Valencia dominated the first half, but Barca cam back strong in second half to win the match)

Arsenal@ Emirates..

These 2 matches were Barca's midfield had hard time in!

Banega and its not really close at all.

Whilshere did great for I would say 50 minutes, with the middle of that game him not doing anything. But the start and finish, totaling to about 50 mins he was great. But Banega was consistently clowning on people.

Noone is else is realistically in with a shout, perhaps Borja but not really for me.

Now that I think back I remember Banega just completely bossing the midfield unlike anyone I've seen do before. Pepe? Lol all he did was foul as much as possible like the rest of the team

Wilshere did very well to withstand the pressure and craft out those passes, but Banega literally bossed the midfield

Benaga by far easily.

Wilshere had a poor 1st half and good 2nd half in Emirates.He along with whole Arsenal midfield were non-existent in Nou camp.

Benega bossed the Barca midfield with ease.Was really class dominating Xavi and co.
