Valencia fans called him the dwarf. I think its appropriate because we were all talking about how height was so important for our LB candidates and we bought this guy lol

He's defending is not bad, and for having a small body, he is very strong don't let the hate get the impression look at the stats let alone, without Dani Alves, Alba is our best wing back.

I find his defending quite bad. I definitely prefer Adriano like Dani. I think Alba edges Adriano going forward, but it's not so clear as by how much Adriano beats Alba defensively.

I think Alba is a brilliant attacking full back. One of the best in the world, even rivaling Alves. However, he is not as good as Alves defending and he does have lapses, especially that he leaves too much space in his back and is very wea, in the air. But especially as an Alves replacement, I think Alba is a great, great signing.

Even if he was an Alves replacement, and I don't think I agree that's the case, then he's not even near the same level as Alves. I don't think he's near the same level attacking, nor even close defending- especially defending.
He is a great attacker, I can agree, but I'm not sure he rivals Alves. But I think I would have to give him more time to come to a full conclusion, anyway. A couple months is nothing in the grand scheme of things.

His problem is aerial challenges. Not only is he short, he truly sucks at heading the ball, his leap is more of a hop.

well this season that's not true at all.
if you mean both at their best, there's not a big difference attacking wise. Alves is the better passer and shooter, while alba is the better at dribbling and crossing, being quite equal at speed and quickness.
defending is another story but Alba is very good in some defensive actions.

Something he's been doing well is being that outlet in Alves' absence. Very important. He's consistently our 3rd most touches etc.
IMO he's faster and quicker than Alves anyway.
Also Alves is a better long range shot but Alba is a better finisher. Very impressed by his runs and cool finishes.
Main thing with Alves is his consistency. Maintained a very high level for ages.

The biggest seperation between the two is brain.
Dani Alves rarely takes aslong on the ball as he does.
Then you add Dani Alves has boundless energy, almost sets the tone with his pressing and averages more touches than midfielder...how can Alba match those things?
