Re: With the latest signing, what are your expectations of Chelsea Next season?
Busquets is basically the equivalent of Arteta though.....
Vidal, Gustavo and Khedira are more b2b than DM's.
De Jong is overrated as shown by how he is benched by Barry every week.
The only one there who is actually a DM and a physical presence there and good is Mikel.
Positional sense is always much more important than physical presence.

Please Mole dont tell me Vidal is not the destroyer in this Juventus team because he is..Highest no.of tackles in Europe for starters..
And Khedira is the destroyer at Madrid likewise Gustavo at Bayern as well although he's a DM for them..each team have varied setups..Madrid's and Juventus' setups are much more similar..

What he does on the ball eg. the occasional Hollywood ball which RVP volleys in first time or the odd piece of skill, is all very well and nice but what he does off it is why he's utter turd in my eyes.
He's a shite DM.
And please stop which this "dirty work" nonsense. That's exactly why scrubs like Scott "Scotty" Parker are highly rated or Gerrard is called a great CM.
As long as your positional sense is great you don't have to make Hollywood sliding tackles to be a great defensive presence on the pitch. It's why Madrid/United can get away with Alonso/Carrick in their teams.
Carrick, more often than not, has always been a ghost against top clubs. Just recall matches against City and Barca; it would have been better to play Giggs in midfield. United finished in top four for many seasons was thanks to other players like Valencia, Rooney, Ronaldo, etc.

Cabaye has the highest amount of tackles in the PL, is he a destroyer now?
Alonso won more tackles than Khedira last season etc etc.
It means nothing.
Just looking at Khedira's, Vidal and Gustavo's average positions will tell you that they are not DM's.

They arent DM's but they do the 'dirty work' in midfield no ?Which is why i call them 'destroyers' ..Gattuso was a destroyer in his prime too..
And i just used stats to reinforce my point but fact is Vidal is the destroyer of this team..

Re: With the latest signing, what are your expectations of Chelsea Next season?
He is a destroyer, just not a DM, just like Khedira.
Gustavo is different, he doesn't press high at all so I wouldn't charachterize him as a B2B , but he has decent passing range when he himself isn't pressed, I think I'd label him a true DM although he doesn't really need to be because Schweinstiger does alot of defensive work anyway.
Arteta played DM last year and it really looked like a natural position for him, although defensively he isn't perfect he isn't worse than the three above and Cazorla and especially Wilshire are defensively sound and can press high.
But wait....why doesn't anyone want Toulalon? probably a top 5 DM in the world right now and he plays for Malaga...........more importantly someone needs to buy him to ensure Camacho starts next season

Re: With the latest signing, what are your expectations of Chelsea Next season?
Yeah they do but Arteta does that work, he does a lot better than Song does thats for sure.
Because of his size don't mean he doesn't do the " dirty work".
He is a fantastic DM in the same sense that Lucas, Mikel, Busquets or any other positional and intercepting DM are.
Go back to the original point, i don't really see what the issue would be with an Arteta-Sahin-Cazorla midfield.
And if there were an issue it wouldn't be personnel it would be a tactical issue.

Surely they'd need some physicality and height in midfield?

Re: With the latest signing, what are your expectations of Chelsea Next season?
Chelsea's best player is Mata. A glorified second striker / wing-forward who's misunderstood to be a "playmaker" just because he's small, technical and Spanish. He barely gets into the Spain squad though. Which should tell you how good he really is.
Hazard is an overrated ball-hog. Also misunderstood to be a playmaker, simply for eclipsing the technical level of other English jewels such as Downing.
Oscar looks tidy.
Torres is the worst striker in Europe.
Ramires-Mikel is as average as a central midfield pair could be.
The whole backline is mediocre. F*ck that, they have David Luiz. The backline is a joke.
They have no depth.
They have no stability in the coaching department.
All in all they should finish behind Arsenal this season.

Spot on with this assessment
Mata is no playmaker..Lampard is still their best midfielder which says a lot.
