Re: The Blue Box
If anyone watched his very first Tottenham interview, he's been taking subtle swipes at us right from the offset. I only watched like the first 3 minutes of it, but he was saying things like "here I'll be surrounded by people with the right attitude and commitment" and other references to Tottenham's style, seemingly taking tacit swipes at our late-season defensive tactics.
He's butthurt. No secret there.

Re: The Blue Box
If there was a lack of spirit at Chelsea, it was because he destroyed it. Sorry, no team as lacking in quality as ours was this year winning the Champions League does so without overwhelming heart, determination, togetherness, and spirit.Barrettinator wrote:O boy......here we go again

The lack of those things at the club was caused solely by him. He's just too blind and arrogant to see it.

It'll really hurt spudz because I think he took that job not because he wanted Tottnum but because he wanted to get back at Chelsea.ShedEnd1905 wrote:If there was a lack of spirit at Chelsea, it was because he destroyed it. At this point, I don't even care if he flops spectacularly. His repeated unnecessary swipes at the club should be enough to make any supporter not even care if he fails yet again.

Re: The Blue Box
Disappointing result, but overall, I'm relatively happy with our performance today. We dominated for the majority of the game, but seriously lacked a cutting edge and didn't create or threaten the goal anywhere near enough. Milan were very good on the counter, and definitely deserved their victory.
Robbie experimenting with Meireles in such an advanced position proved to be a failure, and it's no coincidence that the second he came off and Hazard was moved in there in his place, we looked much better. Lukaku again disappointed, and there should be no doubt left that he's not yet ready to challenge for a place in the team. Hazard and Marin did well again I thought, with the latter once again making quite a case for himself as far as starting places go.
Another thing that I feel will need to be looked at is the midfield pivot. We all know Lamps and Mikel have been first choice since Robbie started employing them there when he first took over in March. They performed very well there last season, but only because we based our philosophy at that time primarily on defense and counterattacking. If we're serious about becoming a more attractive, attacking side, though, the two of them aren't going to cut it. There's no pace, no creativity, no urgency, etc. Considering there are no obvious better options there at this point (with Oscar hopefully growing into the role in time), this is yet another situation that highlights once again that we're in a transitional period and that it will take time.
Overall though, tonight was a typical case of decent performance, bad result, in my opinion. Still much to improve on, while also alot to be happy with and optimistic about

Re: The Blue Box
I think we were unlucky, we were the better team but just lacked it again in the final third. Our best period of play though was just after halftime when Marin and Hazard were linking up well. As soon as Cole went off that vanished imo.
When Hazard was playing LW he was actually tracking back a bit to cover Cole when he pushed which is something i was suprised/happy with.
Overall good game, shame we didn't put a few away.
