Re: The Cantera thread
Watched Castilla v Las Palmas B for Vinicius. Gotta say he looked very disjointed for the most part but had some good moments. Likely due to the big change in quality surrounding him. He did well on his own, but the pace of service to his teammates was all off. Still not sure if this was the right decision for Vini

Raul and Xabi have been given their assigned teams, here is a picture of Alonso's first day.

In better news, respected source CIES has come out with their yearly analysis on the best youth academies in Europe (success is defined as players who have spent at least 3 years in an academy and are now playing somewhere in the top five European leagues) and Real Madrid has come out on top.

Re: The Cantera thread
So Raul, you know, the only footballer I simply had nothing really critical to say, is gonna be our next Castilla manager.
I cannot wait for @halamadrid2 to big up any and every Castilla product while saying we don't need Eriksen much to Freeza's dismay.
While Lucas starts every game for the 1st team btw...

Re: The Cantera thread
Don’t forget about Xabi Alonso ( IMO, will eventually be the better coach), is going to coach juvenile, the team below Castilla. And also in the academy is Roberto Carlos!

Re: The Cantera thread
It's obvious they are grooming Raul to be the next RM coach once ZZ decides to leave. Great!! Maybe we'll get a striker come through that actually lasts in the first team more than a season

Apparently just signed Takefusa Kubo, the 'Japanese Messi' Lmao, not sure about this one. I didn't even know we were after him.

Re: The Cantera thread
yep, I was going to post about him but you beat me to it.
He's 18, so he's not really that young which means pretty soon we'll be able to see whether or not he's the next big thing. Marca tends to blow things out of proportions on all things Madrid.
Good luck to him.

Re: The Cantera thread
He’s called next Messi due to his time in Barca academy! He was one of the illegal youths they had in their system that led to their suspension.

Hm, i like this kid. Seems to have more speed/acceleration in his legs and a more potent attacking impulse than either Odegaard or Brahim.

Damn it. We were after him as well.
Sigh, at least we have the Canadian Messi, as well as the South Korean Messi.

Hans, that’s old news. La Real is his home and he will be coaching their B team, same level as Raul. I still think of all ex players becoming coaches, Xabi has the most potential. I say this because throughout his playing career, he was in effect an on field coach!

Rummenigge has publicly stated multiple times that he would love for Xabi to join Bayern's coaching staff. Everyone thinks he will become a great coach, me included.

Re: The Cantera thread
So in one of the weirder news article to be read by me and something we all knew for months now, Real Madrid has announced that Raul is gonna be our next Castilla manager. I could have sworn they did this already...

Re: The Cantera thread
Doc, i guess you don’t understand the media process here. First Marca, AS and others throw out rumours at random, some credible, some just thrown at wall to see if something sticks!
Then Marca announces something has indeed happened.
Then 2 weeks later the club announces it offically!

Re: The Cantera thread
Just give you lads a heads up, if and when Raul becomes a manager for Madrid, don't expect any criticism from me. None. I won't say nor would I tolerate it. You have been warned.

Re: The Cantera thread
It actually might be this season Doc, after Zidane leaves in a tantrum when he gets Eriksen instead of the dap king!
Although as much as I like Raul (he is my all time favorite), I think Xabi will eventually be the better coach!

RM readying Raul to take over when Zidane leaves for greener pastures. More importantly Solari's mini me is gone.

I don't expect anything from him but wouldn't surprise me that behind that mad face might be a good creative coach. From my pov he certainly has a better chance of succeeding than Raul

Re: The Cantera thread
1. Thinking Xabi will be a good coach is practically becoming a meme. Stahp it.
2. Thinking Raul or other legends to coaches are bound to be trash is equally meme worthy. Stahp it.

Re: The Cantera thread
Castilla might be a good team this season with Kubo and Rodrygo! Both are surely going to part of the squad although Rodrygo may not play entire season there. Until Valverde gets his Spanish passport ( latest news is hopefully in early September), he can’t be listed with first team. The 3 non EU spots are occupied by Valverde, Militao and Vinicius.
These 2 should be a class ahead of everyone in division 3 futbol!

Re: The Cantera thread
I don't follow the youth team as much.
Is there any midfielders capable of moving into the senior team, as cover.
Haven't heard any reviews of any players from the current crop. Usually there are always stand outs who the media will mention.
