I don't like seeing the number 99% when talking about the Cazorla deal. Too many bad memories :'( good to see Jay excited though

I dream of the day Sri.

Development: The hold up in Nuri Sahin's loan move to Arsenal is the player's wages. Arsenal don't want to pay 100% of his wages. (via @mariotorrejon of media outlet cadena ser )

Re: The Official Arsenal Summer Transfers/Rumours Thread
Done a bit of research (google): Nuri Sahin's current reported wage at Real Madrid is £61k per week. Arsenal don't want to pay all of it.
Re: The Official Arsenal Summer Transfers/Rumours Thread
61k is alright in all honesty
think we should pay about 60% of that. We can't lose him because Tottenham will easily pay 100% of the wages

Of course, the only people who truly know his wage are himself, agent, the club etc. £61k is via internet, which can always lie.
Still, we're talking about fine details in this deal now. Good news.

Any truth to Ramsey and Arshivan to Fulham?

Re: The Official Arsenal Summer Transfers/Rumours Thread
We have to bare in mind that although we've offloaded Almunia and Denilson, we're still paying the wages of Squillaci, Arshavin, Bendtner and van Persie and can't guarantee they'll be offloaded. Then there's the new wages for Podolski and Giroud, and the improved contracts for Vermaelen, Koscielny and possibly Walcott. And there's the possibility of Cazorla coming in.
So I can't blame the club for not wanting to pay 100% of Sahin's wages, no matter how good he is. Sensible financial management and all that.

I think RVP will stay, where ever he goes will cost that team around 70m for his wages and transfer fee.
I dont know why would any team turn down Sahin, we want to compete for everything and we can never say no to a Real Madrid player.

Re: The Official Arsenal Summer Transfers/Rumours Thread
If we are signing Sahin permanently, then it would make sense to pay him upto 65k, especially considering what we were paying the likes of Denilson and Squillacci. Don't forget that he would be earning in euros in Spain and pounds in England, and different tax rates.
However, on loan, I would say there is nothing wrong in subsidizing his wages. No reason why we should put time and effort into giving him minutes and also aid his development under AW, and pay his entire wage, in return for him covering our midfield during our injury periods. Not a fair bargain that.
Anyway, I want to reinforce my skepticism. I won't believe it till its on Arsenal.com. (I think I will copy paste this into my signature, so that I don't have to type it in every post )

I'm all for "wait until it's on Arsenal.com" methodology, but people are aware that they announce transfers about ages after we know they're done, right?

Great, great news.
The faster we get rid of the deadwood, the better. Al these guys do is jack up our wage bill and do absolute shit.
I'm all for keeping Arshavin. Still has that spark sometimes and could be very useful if we get hit by an injury bug.

Interesting to note that he did not mention Chamakh. Looks like he's definitely staying this season.

Squillacci - Wages. The teams he is good enough to feature in can't pay his wages.
Park - Lack of suitors. Its a mystery why we even bought this guy, clearly he was barely good enough even for reserves. I'd be happy if we get half a million for him!
Bendtner - Every week he is linked to a new club and we still have him. Besiktas, Galatasaray, even Milan! I wish we can offload him quickly. 10 million is a good return on him, given that he was the best striker from Arsenal at the Euros, and the TGSTEL tag. Is wages the problem in his case too?
Arshavin can be the solution to our creativity in midfield, if we use him in the middle instead of the wings. The problem is, his defensive workrate is pisspoor and using him as in midfield would definitely mean that we need 2 proper DMs to sit deep behind him to make up for it defensively - leading to a disjointed XI on the field. There is no denying his quality though. I think AW would want to keep him if Cazorla deal doesn't go through. I would do that.

I was thinking the same Jay. This could have some serious implications.
Considering Lulu plays more centrally, we have him, Giroud, Chamakh and RvP for playing that one striker role. One things for sure, Afobe is being loaned. Especially after the number of sitters he missed in preseason, it is clear that he needs game time regularly. Sending him to Bolton to work with Coyle is a very good idea, even though Bolton isn't in PL this year. (Wait, am I right?)
Scenario 1 : This means that RvP is definitely off this summer. No more contract BS, no more we hope to keep him BS. If Poldi is not for LW, then no way we are keeping 4 strikers for playing in the 1 forward role.
Scenario 2 : We are shifting formation to a variant of 4-4-2. This also aligns with AW's comment on Giroud. Chamakh and Theo are other players who can do well centrally in a 4-4-2. I would expect Chamakh and Giroud as the striker higher up, and Gervinho/Theo/Podolski as supporting SS. Worth noting that Gervinho played upfront in preseason and is comfortable as SS from earlier in his career. What it also means is we will have a 4 man midfield, with two traditional wingers and 2 central DM/B2B players. I can't see any of our current players particularly flourishing in those wide midfield roles and thats what I can't explain in this scenario.
Man, it is impossible to decipher AW!

Also, see what I did there by not mentioning a certain forward in the scenario 2?
