Balotelli vs Germany for me so far. Pirlo against England deserves a shout too. Ronaldo against Netherlands is up there as well.

Ronaldo against the Dutch would probably be my favorite. He just slipped into a state of irrational confidence and took it upon himself to go forward everytime he touched the ball.

I disagree, he did really well.
Two goals, almost had a third in the second half. Worked hard off the ball, strong performance.

But, not the performance of the tournament.

De Rossi vs. Spain
and Pirlo vs. England both stand out to me as the best

He was better. He absolutely demolished serie a teams. Struggled a bit in the middle and when he was closed down but he has been performing like this all season. Xavi who?

Perform has different meanings imo. For me performing is when a player clearly dominates the other side, so it's probably easier for a midfielder to get that, e.g. Pirlo.

However perform can also mean did well, in which case Balotelli did tonight.
