Batista dropped three Argentina-based players from his provisional team to get down to the limit: Diego Valeri, Enzo Perez and Luciano Monzon.

monzon, perez and valeri were cut(essentially all the local based players except Carizzo).
Diego and Gabi milito should not be there under any circumstances. I would replace Diego Milito with Lisandro and Gabi Milito with Otamendi. However, what's done is done and has been done for over a month(since the prelim. 26 man squad was selected).
Hoping for tevez-messi-aguero frontline

I agree although whenever G. Milito plays he doesn't do half bad.

As for the forwards I'd like to see Lavezzi Aguero and Messi start personally, Lavezzi and Messi have an incredible linkup and understand each other extremely well.

Higuain will start over Tevez and probably Aguero.

So because he scored 4 goals he was the best player? Ha

I just thoroughly disagree with premfacery. Higuain is clearly first choice.

The only game where he was sub par was against Germany but so was the entire team. Messi was a midfielder during the world cup, you wouldn't judge Iniesta from goals would you?

Messi was the best player in that team; Higuain scored a few tap-ins...woopdy-fackin-doo

Tevez is a better player than Higuain, especially given the fact that the latter was out for most of the season. This is no "premfacery" or whatever the hell you want to call it, this is my take on the situation. If you are going to base your views just to be against any EPL player then you're just as bad as those "premfaces" you despise

The funny thing is, no Argentine player played below par at the World Cup. The tactics were just utterly pathetic by Maradona. Messi was dictating, Tevez/Di Maria were working hard, Higuain was poaching well, Mascherano was bossing midfield 1v3 every game up until Germany, the defense didn't singlehandedly lose any games for them. Argentina 2010 has to be the weirdest team ever, huge gulf in individual performance and team effectiveness.

It's pretty well known that Gonzo is the most underrated player ever on this forum, so I will go to bat for him when I need to.

He scores goals more efficiently than Tevez for the NT. What is the man up top's job? Score goals. Oh...

I was one of the people defending Higuain on the old forum..

Since when was scoring goals all that is required? That is what separates Messi from Ronaldo, RVP from Gomez etc. Scoring goals is one aspect, but its not all that is needed or required.

Tevez is the better player.

Tevez is definitely not a better player imo. Because they do have pretty different playing styles, it really comes down to what skill sets you prefer.

It all depends on where Messi will play in the Copa. If he plays in the middle as a 9.5 like he does with Barca, then Tevez and Aguero will probably be on his flanks. But if they want to use a poacher to receive support from all that talent, it'll be:

Messi-----Higuain----Aguero/Tevez

In all honesty I actually love Tevez because he pours his heart out on the field which is endearing to me, but I'd probably bring Tevez off the bench for Higuain or Aguero.
