Roma release Marquinho
There are reports Roma will not take up their option to sign midfielder Marquinho on a permanent basis.
The Brazilian arrived in January from Fluminense and impressed under Coach Luis Enrique, but is not necessarily part of new tactician Zdenek Zeman’s plans.
The option to make the move permanent expires on June 25 and according to the latest from TMW, Roma do not intend to use it.
Marquinho could still remain in Serie A, as several Italian clubs are thought to be interested in him.
Meanwhile, the Giallorossi are also in talks with Real Madrid for Fernando Gago.
They did not take up their option on the Argentine international, but are reportedly trying to work out a new loan deal or lower the price-tag significantly
what is happening , I'm sort of confused now

Re: Roma release Marquinho
Seems like a change of heart on Zeman's part. The impression a month ago was the the exact opposite was going to happen, but that's been turned on it's head.
Will be interesting to see what happens here. I would still very much like Gago with us.

Re: Roma release Marquinho
Dumb move if we don't keep hold of this fellow,he was a best player in the 2nd half of the season by a country mile and he's so energetic and versatile it would be complete stupidity if we were to let him go. I really hope those reports are BS.

Re: Roma release Marquinho
Just found this >>Sky Sports reports that Roma is apparently trying to tick off the Fluminense for a ransom of Marquinho. The yellow and red, in fact, have offered 2.5 million for the midfielder, but the Brazilian club does not want to go below 4.5 in January agreed.
Because before they update the official website the old website was useless i found this website more trustworthy than any other , so mainly i read their stuff http://www.romaforever.it/news/leggi.php?idNews=23182

Re: Roma release Marquinho
Roma denied Marquinho reduction
By Football Italia staff
Marquinho is all but set to end his Roma career after just six months, as Roma reportedly fail to agree a new price with Fluminense.
The Brazilian midfielder arrived at the Olimpico on an initial six-month loan spell in January, with an agreed upon fee of €4.5m in place for the Giallorossi to make permanent the deal this summer.
However, with the deadline on that clause set to pass at the end of today, it is highly unlikely that the 25-year-old will be retained by the capital club.
Director general Franco Baldini had reportedly held talks with Fluminense to seek a reduction in a transfer fee to €2.6m, only for the Brazilian side’s sporting director Rodrigo Caetano to declare publically that the agreements reached in January are non-negotiable now.
Reports a few days ago indicated that Marquinho could remain in Serie A next season with other clubs said to be interested.

Re: Roma release Marquinho
Michael Criscitiello, director of TMW, during Waiting for transfers of Sportitalia has revealed a background of the market after failing to redeem Marquinho by the Roma: "Roma are in trouble on cash and decided not to redeem Marquinho. Player , which has done very well in virtually all Giallorossi convincing, however, could remain in Italy as there is the interest of Lazio ready to take advantage of the situation. "

Re: Roma release Marquinho
Agree with Tifoso completely. Would rather us just kick out the extra cash for Ogbonna if we're already gonna go in for Rolando. We'd be getting a younger, Italian player that knows the style of play here instead of an older, foreign player who would need to adapt.
15m may seem like a lot (because it is), but if we want that good backline, we need to splash the cash. Simple as that. Gotta pay to play and the sooner we learn that and stop lowballing people, the better a club we'll be on the transfer market.

Re: Roma release Marquinho
Sky are reporting that we've purchased Marquinho for 3.5 million euros, awaiting official confirmation. Supposedly the deal went through under Zeman's orders as he sees Marquinho as being perfectly suited to his style

Re: Roma release Marquinho
According to reports this evening, Roma have snatched a last-gasp deal with Fluminense to sign Marquinho for €3.5m.
The midfielder spent the last six months at the Stadio Olimpico on loan and the deadline for taking up their option on him is tonight.
Earlier today the Giallorossi tried to get a discount on the transfer, offering €2.5m to make the move permanent.
Fluminense rejected that proposal, but according to Sky Sport Italia an improved bid of €3.5m was successful.
